Biography:
Torterra is Paul's first (and most powerful) Pokémon, received from Professor Rowan as a Turtwig when Paul started his own independent journey as a Pokémon Trainer. Though Paul claims not to play favorites with his Pokémon, he has grown especially close to Torterra over the years, however he's reluctant to make this obvious. Torterra is a kind and patient soul at heart; much more capable of feeling sympathy than his trainer, which has consistently irked Paul to no end.

More than any other Pokémon, Torterra has endured Paul and his sour attitude and for the most part has tolerated it. Though as a Turtwig the two would frequently be at odds (Paul did not appreciate the natural Turtwig nature; that being the species exploring and examining the world with its powerful jaws, as Paul would often be subject to being bitten by his starter on a daily basis), after fully evolving, Torterra significantly matured and understood his duty to protect his trainer at all costs. This was more important to Torterra than winning any battle, though Paul rarely ever saw it this way. Even when things went awry and the fault was clearly Paul's, Torterra never placed the blame on his trainer, sooner choosing to blame himself. On more than one occasion Torterra has saved Paul's life and vice-versa. Though Paul was unable to naturally remember how, an incident like this was what enabled Torterra to use the ultimate Grass-type move, Frenzy Plant. Now Torterra is faced with the daunting task of one day defeating Pyramid King Brandon, his trainer's father.

In pokedressing, Torterra's bond with Paul strengthened significantly as it was on Awesome Island where Paul first risked his life to save Torterra from a raging Tyranitar. These powerful emotions Torterra experienced firsthand, such as Tyranitar's rage stemming from a mother's love, Paul defending Torterra out of love for his starter (though he would not admit it then), and even Paul's love for Silver (who he met on Awesome Island and quickly got together with) made Torterra curious as to how he might feel fulfilled and ever-stronger if he could experience the love his trainer then had. However, as Paul forbade his Pokémon from breeding (Paul being sensitive about the topic of families being abandoned for the sake of "work"), Torterra had to breed with a Charizard in secret, later siring a litter of baby Charmander and Turtwig. It was then that Torterra understood the new, strange feelings his trainer was experiencing, and though Paul took the news badly at first, he managed to bring himself to forgive Torterra for his actions and took a liking to his babies.

However, Paul was in the midst of a long and drawn-out downward spiral. Though it pained Torterra at times, he followed Paul to the bitter end. Even when Paul was thrown into a time vortex and disappeared for nearly two weeks, Torterra insisted on waiting for Paul to return at the exact place he vanished from, not moving an inch even though he was in the middle of arctic tundra; an environment very unhealthy and dangerous for Torterra to be in for long. Truly, Torterra is loyal to a fault. Even when Torterra did finally leave Paul temporarily, it was not necessarily because of Paul's downfall as a trainer and the mistakes he made, but rather Torterra feeling inadequate that he couldn't prevent these mistakes from happening. He refused to return to Paul until he felt that he would no longer be a detriment to his trainer, but upon overhearing Paul finally beginning to believe in his Pokémon one day during a strange Pokémon Ping-Pong game, Torterra returned with a renewed sense of purpose and faithfully remains by Paul's side to this day.

Biography:
Honchkrow has been with Paul for a long time. Even as a Murkrow, he seemed to be a bit self-absorbed and vain, but knew when to get down to business and behave seriously when his trainer needed him. Because of his Pokémon's faithfulness over the years, Paul was determined to find his Murkrow a Dusk Stone so he could be properly evolved and make use of his full potential. Paul just so happened to receive one from Reggie during his visit home in Veilstone City before his scheduled Gym Battle with Maylene. Through what was largely Honchkrow's efforts, Paul decimated Maylene's team and easily earned his Cobble Badge. Now fully evolved, Honchkrow is more self-absorbed than ever before, but also gets the job done even more efficiently, such as when it made short work of Ash's newly-evolved Grotle to the point where it was sent to the emergency ward.

Over the years, Honchkrow has been a useful scouting tool for Paul, as well as a prime candidate for distracting opponents (such as how he was used to distract goldgrunt in order for Paul to focus on fighting refinetheraid). He isn't above getting scolded from Paul if he doesn't meet his trainer's standards (such as losing to Ash's Staraptor in the Pokeringer competition), but though Paul won't admit it, he has a bit of a soft spot for his bird... which is why he usually urges people he sees with Murkrow (usually a Silver) to find a Dusk Stone to evolve it so his Honchkrow can have others of its species to interact with; Paul's Honchkrow has been shown to get on well very quickly with his fellow species.

Biography:
Ursaring first encountered Paul (with Ash) in Bewilder Forest very early on during their Sinnoh journey where he tried to kill them both. Instead of running away like a sensible person, Paul found Ursaring's power intriguing and decided to capture Ursaring and harness the raw power the beast possessed. Since then, Ursaring has become a reliable powerhouse in Paul's team and has been used frequently. Ursaring himself seems to have an unlimited source of irrational rage, amplified when his Guts ability is activated.

Biography:
Magmortar was captured by Paul as a Magmar about midway into his Sinnoh journey shortly after he abandoned Chimchar, making Magmortar the designated Fire-type replacement on Paul's team. While he has been more than successful in filling the shoes left by Chimchar, Magmortar is very reserved and not outspoken in the least; in this respect, he's more like Torterra in personality, though of course without the seniority and leadership skills. Still, he is an accepted and respected member of Paul's team due to his impressive strength, usually inclined towards special attacks.

Biography:
Arcanine was the first Pokémon Paul received in an official trade. Paul received Arcanine as a Growlithe from lilsilverrascal in exchange for the baby Turtwig Paul gave him (the Turtwig being the son of his own Torterra). Incidentally, this Arcanine was also the first Pokémon little Silver ever captured on his own. Since he was captured in a Luxury Ball, Arcanine very quickly became attached to Paul and unconditionally loved him. Much unlike the rest of Paul's team, Arcanine is happy-go-lucky, energetic, and naive. Because Paul has a soft spot for the little Silver, Arcanine stands out as the first Pokemon Paul has not treated with cruelty or hostility. While he still remained strict and made sure Arcanine became powerful and competent, this was the first major example of Paul changing his ways as a trainer.

In spite of the contrasting natures, Arcanine is respected by the rest of Paul's Pokémon because they see the potential in Arcanine's power once he is officially caught up with the others in terms of levels.

This would never come to pass, as a mental meltdown from Paul resulted in some tragedies that could only be prevented in the future if Paul got rid of all of his ties to both his ex-boyfriend Silver and little Silver, which included the Pokémon they had given him. Arcanine was such a Pokémon, but rather than releasing him, Paul allowed Specialverse tsuuuun to adopt him instead.

He currently remains under that Silver's ownership.

Biography:
Rhyperior the second Pokémon received by Paul via an official trade. Like Arcanine, Rhyperior was given to Paul (as a Rhyhorn) by lilsilverrascal; this time in exchange for Paul's previously-owned Manaphy. Like Arcanine, Rhyperior was treated much more kindly by Paul than his teammates due to the fact that he was a gift from little Silver. Rhyperior was not quite as playful as Arcanine, but did have a slight mischevious side to him. That mellowed out considerably once Rhyperior fully evolved, however. The evolution required further assistance from little Silver as Paul discovered that a Rhyperior could only be obtained through a trade with an item called a Protector. Rhyperior is the tallest Pokémon of Paul's team and nearly the heaviest, second only to Torterra. His massive size alone prevents Paul's other Pokémon from messing around with him.

However, Rhyperior knows his place and does not abuse this potential position of authority. He is rather ideal for being a bodyguard and Paul has always had a special kind of respect for massive tank-like sweeper Pokémon.

After a nervous breakdown made Paul snap and nearly kill Specialverse tsuuuun, it was made obvious that Paul had to get rid of everything that symbolized the past with his original Silver, as well as little Silver. This included releasing any Pokémon that had a tie with either Silver, which meant Paul begrudgingly had to let Rhyperior go. However, Paul's other friends decided to adopt one each instead.

Rhyperior is now under the ownership of Specialverse mischiefbreeder.

Biography:
Drifblim, given the name "Lain" by her original trainer, silver_rival (Paul's ex-boyfriend), appeared as an egg that was found in Silver's backpack over a year ago. This was the first of several incidents throughout the summer where several people on Awesome Island were suddenly in possession of abandoned Pokémon eggs which seemingly came out of nowhere. Silver decided to keep his, and since he had no knowledge of Pokémon beyond Generation II, Paul was the one who had to teach Silver about what Lain was (both as a Drifloon and later a Drifblim). Though there was some concern about the rumors of the Drifloon/Drifblim species dragging people into the underworld, Lain was always well-behaved and very low-maitenance for a baby. Lain's name means on or next to a path.

Lain has a very simplistic, if child-like way of speaking that she has retained even as a high-leveled, fully evolved Pokémon. Interestingly, she considers Silver her father and Paul her mother, though she is primarily taken care of by Silver.

However, when Silver (and his world's goldchampion) suddenly disappeared from Awesome Island shortly after Paul and Silver broke up, every Pokémon not in Gold and Silver's main party had been left behind on Awesome Island, Lain included. They all immediately went into Paul and Reggie's care. Though Paul managed to get most of these "abandoned" Pokémon adopted, he kept Lain and took care of her full-time, as she was the only remaining symbol left of the love Paul and Silver once had. As a result, Paul became extremely attached to Lain and she was one of the few aspects of his life that helps him to keep pressing forward in spite of his devastating loss.

However, an incident where Paul snapped with rage that nearly ended up killing Specialverse tsuuuun made Paul realize that he needed to get rid of everything that symbolized the past so he would truly be able to move on and not judge other Golds and Silvers so harshly. This also meant that every Pokémon Paul had that was given to him by silver_rival or lilsilverrascal had to be released. However, his friends decided to adopt one each of the three Paul had to part with.

Lain is now technically under the ownership of healing_yellow, but is likely to run off in pursuit of her original Silver, who returned to Awesome Island, yet was taken from an earlier point in time from his world and thus has no memories of Lain, Paul, or anything about Awesome Island.

Biography:
Drapion is truly onesymbolshort's Pokémon who he's had since the early days of his journey over eight years ago. Though rotated in and out of Reggie's main team often during his active years as a trainer, Drapion was one of the few selected to participate in Reggie's greatest challenge: defeating Pyramid King Brandon, his father. Drapion was the last Pokémon standing on Reggie's side, but was ultimately defeated by Brandon's Regirock with ease like the others had. It was this loss that caused Reggie to retire as a trainer and take up breeding instead. Since then, Drapion has been used very sporadically as a fighter, though younger brother Paul's journey as a Pokémon Trainer began just as Reggie's ended. To keep Drapion's skills sharp, Reggie loaned Drapion to Paul intermittently throughout his journey whenever his help was needed. As a result, much of Drapion's strength is the result of Reggie's caring and loving training opposed to Paul's brutal and heartless style. Paul is reluctant to rely too much on Drapion because he knows his strength is really more because of Reggie than him, but has used Drapion enough to where at this point he can be considered both Reggie and Paul's Pokémon.

Drapion managed to make its way into Awesome Island despite Paul and Reggie having a full team of six already with them upon their arrival and has been used minimally in pokedressing.
