A how the years pass. Livejournal is not blocked at most workplaces unlike facebook, myspace, gmail, etc. Yet is has fallen down the social website ladder. Part of this is probably because Livejournal sets up their robot.txt file to deny searches by various engines so none of their users' stuff will ever show up in a search on Google, Yahoo, etc.

Sadly Livejournal is one of the few large open networks out there which allows everyone to read information without needed an account, unlike facebook.

I wish people would realize the value of having an open social network; of owning your own domain and blog account which can currently be purchased and setup with no experience for about $7 a month. In any case, it's time to update my website addresses. The following are my sites:
  1. http://sumdog.com is my personal website containing a journal, reviews for beers, movies, books and events, a photo gallery, poems and a variety of other good stuff which I have maintained since January of 2001
  2. http://penguindreams.org is my professional website which contains projects for both work and school, a listing of all my previous class assignments, a professional portfolio and a resume
  3. http://fightthefuture.org is a political website with articles containing well sourced data and plenty of references.
