In-Game Character Information
Name: Sakura Haruno
Series: Naruto
Age: 17

Personality:
There are many things you could say about a girl like Sakura Haruno; some of them might even be true. Hers is a complex nature, an intertwining thoughts and convictions and personality quirks that pull together to create the whole - a seventeen year old girl who is pretty nice, kind of grumpy, fairly ridiculous and incredibly determined to do what it takes to protect her friends and achieve her goals.

That determination is the cornerstone of her being, something that, no matter what else alters about her, isn’t likely to change any time soon. Although the focus of it has certainly shifted of the years, it’s always been a part of her - when Sakura puts her mind to something, there’s little to nothing that will persuade her from changing it unless she wants to. When she was younger, this determination was mostly focussed on Sasuke, and on proving her worth to him; now that she has grown up and matured somewhat, the main focus of her determination is on proving her worth to herself. She wants to get stronger, in all ways - mentally, magically, physically - in order to prove to herself that she’s not worthless and, hand in hand with this, so she will have the ability to support and protect her friends in whatever way they need.

Sakura has always been a highly intelligent young woman - that is to say, in the traditional book-knowledge sense manner. She works hard and it shows in her marks; she considers anything below ninety percent to be okay, and anything below eighty to be a failure. More than this, she also has an extraordinarily good memory. It’s not quite photographic, but she can recall in great detail at a moment’s notice things about objects and people and event that she only witnessed for a moment. In exchange for this intellectual ability, however, she’s always been...shall we say, lacking in social graces. She has improved somewhat now, with more tact and a faint paranoia that she’ll return her own ways of insulting the things she didn’t understand or like, but she still has that tendency to stutter over herself when she’s caught off guard, she can’t flirt to save herself, and if all else fails, punching a person in the face is still an option.

Despite her social derp, Sakura’s kindness and caring have really come through in the past year, and these qualities more than make up for what has turned into a rather bluntly honest and at times meddling nature of hers. She rarely, if ever, acts with some sort of selfish ulterior motive - in fact she’s paranoid of doing such - and her heart is in the right place. She has a strong sense of justice and what’s right, and will stand up for that sense even when the odds are against her. She wants to help people, and one of her worst fears is that something about her nature will result in her failing to do so - just as she’s terrified she won’t have the ability to helped someone, she’s terrified that she will have the ability, and some weakness in her personality will prevent her from doing so. She demands high standards from other people, but the highest she has are for herself, and while she is very forgiving when it comes to others - especially those who, at the very least, try - she is her own harshest critic.

She won’t ever give up, though. The term is no longer even a part of her vocabulary. She may fall down, get beaten down, but she won’t ever stay down.

Background:
Sakura is the half-Japanese daughter of a surgeon and a British witch. Her father is a Muggle, quiet and well-spoken when he chooses to be, while her mother is the coach of the well-known all-women Quidditch team the Holyhead Harpies - a passionate woman from whom Sakura has inherited much of her fiery nature.

She grew up in a middle-to-upper class home in England where, if she wasn’t given everything she wanted, she certainly made a dent in the list. Her parents where careful not to spoil her, but for her formative years Sakura found herself in a loving home with parents who cared deeply for her and absolutely no potential for serious trauma - something that remains true to this day. Some things can’t be avoided, however, and as an only child she found that once she hit school she was woefully unprepared for the concept of ‘dealing with other people’. Children are assholes, and Sakura was a sensitive child who didn’t take criticism well. More often than not, she’d start the day upset and end it in tears, mercilessly taunted by her classmates.

This came to an end, however, when she was around six or seven. She was keeping to herself in a small corner of the sandpit when a familiar shadow loomed over her. Before her antagonist could start being really awful, though, a boy with hair even more ridiculous than hers barrelled out of nowhere and punched the other boy in the face. So started Sakura’s friendship with Axel Incend, something that was cemented five minutes later when she innocently told the teacher that it was definitely the other boy who had started it.

The years passed, and Sakura began spending more and more time with Axel until he was probably her closest friend that she cared about more than anyone (except, obviously, her parents). She was terrified that one of them would get a Hogwarts letter and the other wouldn’t, but she needn’t have worried; Sakura and Axel got their letters on the same day, and on September 1, headed off to Hogwarts together.

Hogwarts, however, wasn’t everything she had imagined it to be. In the wake of Ultimecia’s defeat a bare three years ago, relations between Purebloods and muggle and halfbloods were still fraught with tension and Sakura, having spent most of the past few years with Axel, still wasn’t so good at that social thing. She began to feel that her blood made her somehow inferior and, as other girls looked down on her for not being into the same things that they were and more interested in her schoolwork and hanging with Axel, she started to become desperate to change somehow - to be good enough to fit in and be liked.

None of this starts to really seriously show, however, until Sasuke. Early in her second year, Sakura discovers that the cool thing to do is to like Sasuke, and what starts out as an attempt to fit in quickly expands into a full blown obsession. She finds that when she’s talking about Sasuke, the other girls will talk to her and pay attention to what she says, so that’s what she does. She also takes a genuine, if shallow interest in him for his own sake, and all of this leads to a rift between her and Axel that quickly expands into a gaping chasm that soon gets filled with a RIVER OF LAVA as Axel gets jealous and she can’t see why and they both get nasty to each other and then suddenly it’s been two years and she can’t even stand to look at him when they pass each other in the hallways.

Second year is when her Sasuke-obsession kicks off, with third year being the peak. When fourth year rolls around, however, and the inklings of maturity and insecurity kick in because it’s been two years and Sasuke still isn’t interested, things start changing again. She begins to focus more on her studies again, yet still remains obnoxious enough to catch the eye of a group of Pureblood girls who find the way she imitates Pureblood behaviour and chases after another Pureblood to be abhorrent. They catch her alone in a corridor one afternoon, and after a dramatic beating, Sakura finds herself caught by the hair without her wand. She does have an enchanted craft knife, however, and in her panic decides that her best option is clearly to cut off her hair in order to escape. Perhaps because this move is such a surprise, she’s able to wrest her wand back and with newly inspired determination, proceeds to beat the crap out of the other three girls.

This event causes a somewhat profound change in Sakura’s general attitude towards life. Coupled with the aforementioned vague inklings of maturity, she comes to realise just how helpless she had been, how useless everything she had been focussing her life on for the past few years was. The realisations kept coming, until it finally occurred to her that the person she had turned into...she didn’t like very much.

It was then that Sakura turned her formidable determination to improving herself. First and foremost, she apologised to Axel. It didn’t heal all wounds, but it was a start, a step in the right direction that she intended to pursue. After that, she turned her attention to every other aspect of her life. She’d always been interested in self-defence, and now it became a passion in her struggle to improve herself. Her grades had always been good, but she found now that when she really put her mind to it, she was scoring in the top percentile of most of her classes. She decided she wanted to do something useful with her life, something helpful, and it was this notion that led her to healing. At first it was out of a sense of duty that she spent so much time studying the art, but she soon found that she actually enjoyed it - and not long after that, discovered that she actually had something of a talent for it.

Fifth year, she spent holed up in the Library, or in the training grounds. She focussed on her martial arts, on her school work and on repairing her relationship with Axel, keeping a pretty low profile and trying to ignore the fact that she was still hopelessly in love with Sasuke. In the face of her new focus, however, even those feelings began to morph into something else, less obsessive and more stable, to the point that, when sixth year rolled around, she was almost ready to try that being social thing again.

Sakura’s sixth year has been an eventful one, to say the least. Her relationship with Axel has been forged anew, she’s found herself simultaneously falling out of love with Sasuke and yet drawing closer to him in a familial sense and, after so many years, finally going out and making some true friends. After the situation with the zombies and struggling to deal with the fact that she was responsible for the death of another human, Sakura decided to take some time out from Hogwarts, spending a few days at home before packing herself off to Prestigious Healing School for another crash course in Being a Bamf Healer. Presumably, there was a Tsunade-type there. After a month or two there, she’s decided it’s time to give regular school another shot, and has been looking forward (if impatiently) to returning to Hogwarts.

It’s been a year of self-discovery for Sakura, with its own ups and downs, and while she doesn’t know what the future will bring, she feels now, more than ever, that she’s ready to face it.

Blood: Halfblood!

Preferred House: Ravenclaw

Why you think they belong in this house? To be honest I think she fits in Gryffindor just as well, but she also fits Raven and we need more of those! Also she was a Ravenclaw before.

BUT ANYWAY Sakura is shown to be an extremely studious, uh...student, focusing on theory and written things. She’s also highly intelligent, as seen in canon by her being the only 12 year old to pass an asstardedly difficult test without cheating, and in her fight scenes is seen to be the type of person who plans ahead and judges her actions carefully before she tasks them. SO, YEAH.

School Year: 6th

Quidditch Position:Beater
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? For def.

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: [Voice]

[the sound of someone letting a trunk drop to the ground, and then flopping on a bed with a groan] If I never have to spend that long on a train again, it’ll be too soon. [a pause] Sei, if you’ve been using my bed while I’ve been gone, I’m going to put you through a wall.

[there’s a faint, absent hum, and then the tapping of a pen against a book] Kairi, I’ll see you at six tomorrow morning, out on the training field. Catty, you and Jaina usually met at five, didn’t you? And Axel, do your Charms homework. Does anyone know if the Ravenclaw Quidditch team has a new Captain yet?

Oh, and for those of you who are new - I’m Sakura Haruno, sixth year Ravenclaw. I was away for a few months on a course at the St Mungo’s Healing Academy, but I’m back now. It’s nice to meet you all, I hope to get to know you better before the end of the school year.

[another pause, and then irritated muttering] --Has anyone seen a large black cat? Her left forepaw and the tip of her tail are white, she answers to ‘Maiko’, and likes to eat homework.

Roleplay Sample:
Broom and bat in one hand, dragging the box of practice balls in the other, Sakura made her way out to the Quidditch Pitch. The sight of the stands, although empty now, was familiar enough to make her smile as she set the box down with a dull thump in the wet grass. Flipping the box open, she swung a leg over her broom and kicked over, smile widening at that first rush of air. She’d been able to practice all sorts of things at St Mungo’s, but Quidditch hadn’t been one of them - there simply hadn’t been time.

Pulling her wand from her robes, she flicked it at the box, undoing the straps that the bludgers were straining behind. They rocketed out as she tucked he wand back into her sleeve and gripped the broom with one hand, veering off to the right as her other hand tightened on the beater’s bat. She closed her eyes for a moment, reacquainting herself with flying and the feeling of being so far off the ground even as she listened for the tell-tale whistle of an approaching bludger.

Hearing one, her eyes flew open and she whirled around - not as fast as she could have, perhaps, but she could improve on that with more practice - and slammed her bat into the ball. The satisfying jolt of making contact ran up her arm and she grinned this time, pleased, as the ball ricocheted off the other, sending them both flying.

“I’ve still got it,” she crowed to herself, not caring if anyone who happened to be in the stands could hear. Sometimes a girl needed to gloat, right?

She pulled out her wand, cast a charm to speed the bludgers up a little - more of a challenge - and this time kept a careful eye on the flying balls of death. And so she spent the afternoon, gradually increasing the speed of the bludgers until, inevitably, they were just that little bit too fast.

She swung ducked under one and swerved around the other, debated fumbling for her wand for a moment before realising she didn’t have time. Gripping the broom with her knees and holding the bat with both hands, she eyed the Bludgers as the bore down on her, counting slowly under her breath until she judged them to be close enough and letting loose with all her strength.

Which, after a month and a half of training, turned out to be a considerable amount. Sakura bite her lip guiltily at the small crater in the grounds of the Quidditch Pitch before snorting a little, laughing at herself.

“At least I know that’s working.”

PERMISSHUNS

Character name: Sakura Haruno

Canon Ability/Power: Super Duper Chakra Control That Enables Her To Be A Bamf Healer And Punch Shit. I’m assuming we’re all good for that Chakra Control thing from the last time she was in game, so this permisshuns is for the Bamf Healing and the Punching Shit.

Why do you want to bring this into the game? /How is it important to your character? It is incredibly important to Sakura’s growth and development as a character, her physical and magical abilities being the tangible proof of the hard work and effort she has put into improving herself. Also she was out of game for two months and the excuse for that is that she was training in this shit, so it would be kind of sad if she didn’t have something to show for that :’D At this point, considering my excuse for her disappearances when going on extended hiatus and when dropping her, and taking into account her own personal study habits, I don’t think it’s unrealistic for her to now be skilled in healing and mountain punching, although obviously not to the level of a Professional Healer or Professional Mountain Puncher.

What does it do? / How does it work? Canonically, Sakura’s fine control over her chakra lends itself incredibly well to healing what with the whole dealing with tiny veins and nerves and the like. It also allows her to concentrate chakra in certain points of her body and then release it in large burst, causing Shit To Explode.

How will this be translated to Hogwarts?
Essentially the same, except having fine control over magic rather than chakra, which theoretically would still lead to a skill at healing. The mountain punching is a spell that she trained in both while at Hogwarts and in private sessions with a Certain Bamf Lady while she was training at her healing Academy that requires her Super Duper Magic Control Power to handle correctly.

How will you be limiting this power?
She is definitely nowhere near the level of a fully trained healer, but she can deal with burns and cuts/gashes and minor fractures, and ease the pain of more serious injuries. As for the mountain punching, I would limit that by still having her fail with it on occasion during stressful situations, and it not being so powerful as it is canonically - which is to say, no she couldn’t punch mountains down or cause giant ass craters in the ground. Even with intensive training, she can probably only cause cracks in the ground and punch walls down.

Do other characters know about this power? Definitely.

Anything else?Nup!
