To start of this soon-to-be wonderful community, I have decided to post some pictures of Alita and my costume-in-making for the preliminary application for the Aussie World Cosplay Summit just last week.
Sadly we did not get anywhere notable for this competition/application thing, but never fear! DISHEARTENED WE MAY BE, BUT NOT DISCOURAGED!
And yeah, in hindsight I realise that makes little to no sense, but one thing you will soon learn to know if you do not already is: I make no sense. Period. Lots of fun for everyone!
On with the pictures!!!
So we decided to be all awesome and torture ourselves with making three horribly difficult costumes from Evangelion. Alita, always making it harder for herself, decided she'd try to do the really really easy Eva costume (this is the part where I throw my head back and laugh).
Much lols ensued, mostly on my part. Alita just generally cried. But thats for her to post about. Initially I was just supposed to do the angel Zeruel and have Alita eat my insides (yeah we didnt realise this had already be done by an awesome spanish duo), but nooooo I wanted to make a plugsuit as well. Not one of the better ideas I've ever had.
Some of the patterns for my leg and sleeves I believe. In case you were wondering I hate pattern making, as I generally suck at it :(
The pieces for my thighs. Probably the best bit of the costume, I was so proud when I got the black stripes of the back panel to line up with the front panel, that took a lot of time and effort that I probably should've spent on the rest of my costume. At least my legs looked awesome!
The front piece for my torso, also another part that was a bit tricky to do, especially the middle joiny thing. Why are these images so big you ask? Its because I suck at photo resizing. Sorry.
My arms, probably the easiest thing to do out of the whole costume.
Me trying on the leg pieces. I had to hand sew the bottom half of the leg to the top half coz of the intricate corners etc, you can tell coz it sort of warps at the conrers D:
Me trying on the legs with the bottom half of the suit. Something I should've realised before endeavouring to make a PVC PLUGSUIT: you never look good in PVC. Especially if you have chunky thighs. "what are you on about, you don't have chunky thighs Arleh" sure sure...
Me with the mess on the floor. I thought it was looking pretty good at this point. Boy oh boy... was I soon to be proven wrong XD

Me on a different day going "buh?" coz I have positively no idea what I'm doing at this stage. Yeah, that happened a lot.

And another! And by final I mean for Animania, I took these photos just before I pulled it apart again (GASPSHOCKHORROR) to work on the top half, especially the armholes, as I was not satisfied with it. When I told Alita this she almost had a heartattack, it was quite amusing.
So that brings me to the end of my plugsuit escapade. The angel(or Mr. Squishy as I like to call him) I probably wont post up here til I actually have it to a standard I find fitting to show, which won't be for another month or two at least. Not to worry you Eva hungry fanatics out there, Alita should post her part of this painful journey here very soon, and then you can learn how to make your very own eva costume! Plus pain! And general unhappiness!
And for any of you at Animania yes I realise how miserable I looked that day, the thing is, that was sort of my retarded attempt at a "serious face" on 28 hours of no sleep(for any of you not at Animania, looks much like the above except with general haggardness). No wonder everyone was trying to consol me, I probably looked very heartbroken indeed, when in reality Alita was the poor one crying away in her widdle purple suit of depressiveness :( I was just hitching along for the ride :)
Thanks for all your complements and pleasantries that day, I enjoyed making you laugh and smile, no really, I did, thats why I do this after all :D
