cat vomit

Luke put cat vomit in his mouth yesterday.
...

We were at a friend's house, and Luke was exploring the floor. I was keeping one eye on him the whole time, and suddenly I noticed he'd just put something in his mouth. I immediately took it out, and my first thought was that it was a mushed-up, dried-up cornflake or similar food conglomeration. I did a sniff test to further identify it, and it was totally cat vomit. It's been years since I've owned a cat, but it only took a second for me to recognize that very distinctive scent. Then I noticed the dried cat vomit on the carpet in a corner.

Sign that I have become a veteran mom: I was largely unphased by this event. Three years ago, I would have had a conniption. Now: eh, shit happens. They've put other disgusting things in their mouths, probably some things I don't even know about, and survived mostly unscathed.

Possibly contributing to my blase attitude: I had just read this article earlier that day.

A two-bachelor household is so, so not baby-proof.
