I actually don't think I've done this for any of my current characters yet!

• Batsu was a problem child in school with no clear future except the obvious one. So when their parents died, he already had connections and was able to join the best gang with the best chance of making money.

• Batsu never got very high up on the gang chain of command, but he wasn't low, either. He just never had the money sense to have a position of power.

• Batsu never did sell his sister to one of his friends, but he DID make them promise to take care of her. Even so, he didn't quite believe that, hence the scar.

• He doesn't remember his real name; this is a combination of the drugs and the fact that he doesn't want to. He doesn't remember his parents' names, either, and he only remembers their last name because he remembers his sister's full name. (It's "Garland.")

• He has really good memories of the gang; the people weren't the brightest or the most moral, and there were lots of drugs (what's the point in making if you don't sample the merchandise?), but they had fun and were loyal, and Batsu wasn't an outsider for being dumb and kind of inclined towards violence.

• Batsu was smuggling the drugs as an unexpected promotion. He couldn't turn it down, nor did he want to.

• As much as I joke about it, I honestly don't think he was addicted to any of the harder stuff-- but I DO think he'd tried everything and was addicted to a slightly milder drug or two, possibly the nicotine of the future (Metal Paranoia wasn't their first experiment). We're shown him smoking in all of one panel, in the casual way indicating a habit, but once he wakes up again, he's "clean."

• …And this isn't to say that he hasn't destroyed many, many brain cells.

• He had purpose and drive in the gang, but he has no vision of the future and no goals to work for, now. And despite that, he's probably the happiest he's ever been, getting fired from jobs and mooching off of Screw. He loved Heather, but taking care of a sickly eight-year-old is more responsibility than a sixteen-year-old gangbanger should have. It's nice not to have that pressure anymore.

• So you know genetic sexual attraction? Batsu has that in spades, and has ever since Neji showed up to kick his ass. He writes it as Neji looking like a girl (which he does), because he's not gay (he isn't). Having a monster crush on Relyss confirmed that.

• He didn't go with Relyss because he was scared of leaving the strange stability he has. But he still kind of hopes that she'll come back someday and like him enough to stay instead of him having to leave.

• He actually doesn't know if his grandparents are still alive, and he's never offered to try to find out. He likes things how they are.

• …He does, in fact, explode things regularly. He wasn't quite so batty before Metal Paranoia got into his brain, but he's pretty much incurably off his rocker these days. Logical thought processes? What are those?

• Batsu's tendency to lose clothes is a complete lack of body shyness more than anything else.

• …No, he doesn't actually remember if he's ever had sex or not.
