More on "Ways to spell 'God'"…

So, we've got straight-up "God", which a lot of people use. I tend to use that when I'm feeling lazy [and/or] disrespectful (because I'm angry or frustrated) [and/or] agnostic.

Then there's G-d, the commonest choice, because it shows respect and whatnot and a hyphen somehow became the proper way to denote respect for Names, because even when they're Just English Names, they're still Names and to some folks, That Matters.

I go back and forth about this, and I don't think I'm ever really going to know where I stand, but I'm collecting other ways to express The Deity's Name, specifically the one starting with "G" and ending with "d" because it helps me express my current state of belief in a cutesy but concise way.

Anyhow, orawnzva introduced me to the concept of "G!d", which I'm not sure if I define the same way he does, but I use it to be like "Wow! The Deity is way cool!", such as in the context of a spiritual discussion, provided I'm not having one of those days when The Deity and I are Not Speaking To Each Other, or more accurately, when I'm Not Speaking to nor Listening to The Deity.

There's the ever-popular "G?d", for when I'm feeling questioning about the existence of The Deity, or when I'm not sure how I feel about The Deity.

Then there's "G‽d", for times like when I've just been involved in a spiritual experience, but I don't feel a connection, so as much as people around me are clearly experiencing "G!d", I may feel left behind because I'm experiencing "G?d", but I am clearly aware of the "G!d"-type experience going on, so that means despite feeling disconnected from it, the positive emotions it creates are infectious, causing the "?" and "!" to blend together.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I was sitting around and I had the epiphany of "G∞d", a way to express both that The Deity is good as well as a way to express that The Deity is neverending.

From that post, boroparkpyro brought down that Hashem [yes, I finally got sick of saying "The Deity" over and over…] could be portrayed as "Supreme Being, The Most High, God of the Heavens" through writing it as "G^d".

I had been musing about using "G…d", but I was having trouble defining it, and it certainly seems that if I'm going to use it, I shoudl be able to define it. spin0za1 suggested that it might mean that God is unknowable, or alternatively, that God is in the in-between places. Or, you know, maybe both.

So, I've still got some punctuation left to account for. I'm requesting suggested interpretations for "G.d", "G,d", "G;d", "G:d", and "G'd", if any of them make sense to you punctuated like that. Also, if you come up with something else like, say, "G~d" or "G`d", let me know what you think that means and why. At this point, it's more curiosity and amusement rather than a Serious Spiritual Exercise, but who says it can't be a little of both?

silliness, spirituality, thinking
