So.
I have two papers, one due the 17th and one due the 20th.
I cannot sit still to work on the one due the 17th. I chose not to worry about the one due the 20th until I'd made some headway on the one due the 17th. I have enough to worry about.
The paper due on the 20th hinges on the use of a book that is on reserve in Canaday. I asked if the book could be released from reserve so I could work on the paper over break, but the prof basically told me I could photocopy the entire book.
That would cost more than buying the damn book. Furthermore, I don't have time to copy that many pages.
So, I requested the copy that is in McCabe. I knew it wouldn't be back before break, because it is presently checked out. Realizing I would have perhaps five days to write the paper if I started when I got home, I requested an interlibrary loan of a copy from a local college library to the San Antonio Public Library System.
Well and good. I knew there was a chance that I'd only have a few days with the book, but I figured that it would be better to have a few days with the book than none at all. I was promised that the library would email me when the book arrived.
My mother has decided to call the library daily. DAILY. It was annoying, but I tried not to let it bother me, until she decided to tell me she'd been informed that the book had been checked out, so there's no chance that I could get the book in time.
Not only that, but instead of just letting it be, she's called every bookstore in the vicinity and it's not in stock anywhere.
Now I have THAT to worry about. I'm already paralyzed in my ability to write the FIRST paper that's due and NOW I have to worry about THIS, too?!
And she's the one who says that I shouldn't think too far ahead and borrow trouble. Thanks, mom. Now I *really* can't think straight.
