absolutely right. There is no stopping terrorism because of the fact that there is no actual state to restrain them to. All the nuclear bombs in the world didn't stop 9/11.

that said, that doesn't mean that there aren't ways of keeping it in check.

The notion that the United States (or any sane nation trying to defend its security, for that matter) should just give up on terrorism because "theres an unlimited number of them", is ridiculous. If anything, its more of a reason to fight them.

In fact by that logic, the Russians, Israelis, Philippinos, Australians, and Indians should stop pre-empting attacks because "there's no use fighting them". While we're at it, lets let Al-Qaeda take another shot at trying to bring down the Eiffel Tower or blow up 11 commercial airliners over the Pacific (both plots stopped by the CIA).

And can we stop with the Bush/moron analogy? I mean, seriously, I would have thought that political satirists would stop beating the dead horse with this issue.

He got out of Vietnam by going AWOL in the military, yet never got called on it. He graduated Yale with a "C" average (note: this is Yale here, not some rinky-dink diploma generator), and got an MBA at HARVARD. He got a 1240 on the SATs (indicating an IQ around 120, not below 100, as the left would have you believe). He got a job where all he had to do was act as the figurehead for the Texas Rangers, and basically watch baseball all day. He stacked his administration with a Who's Who in the GOP, so all the day-to-day stuff was taken care of.

And he beat everyone because he's always been passed off as an idiot. To quote Pulp Fiction: That's how ya keep beatin them...they keep underestimating ya.

Just a quick followup to the original post:

Did you notice what the Army Major had to say about the attack?

At the time we initiated the attack, we did not know there were children nearby

Do you still think they would have shot a missle at a building, especially with as low as the public morale is in this country right now surrounding the war, if they knew it was full of kids?

Come on, man. Use a little logic here.

so wait, you don't care when american civilians (who had nothing to do with previous actions by the government) are killed, but you throw a hissy fit when afghani's or iraqi's are killed (equally as innocent)?

Zuh?!

Weeping for one group of people and not for another makes about as much sense as Larry Flynt after taking a dive in a pool full of gin.

No, of course not. Cause you know, I'd never be sarcastic in any way, shape, or form :P
