Well here we are in Olds Alberta. We had the movers pack our things on the Friday and that night, Paul took the RV up to the campground where I stayed with the 2 cats by myself. (OLERUD did not make the trip as we put him down due to his advanced age and health problems, but Neko did as we were unsuccessful in finding her a new home.) This was my first night alone in the RV and after watching some tv I had no problem sleeping and my early morning alarm (the cats) went off as expected at 6 a.m.
Ted and Diana drove up, drove us over to the new house, inspected it, took me back to the campground and drove Paul back to Calgary. The place was really filthy so I got the names of a couple of people to do cleaning and made arrangements for Sarah to pick me up at the camp and drive me over.
We had lots of work,we scrubbed all the floors and shoveled the dirt out of the laundry room. I had shelf paper so I lined as many cupboards as I could. We had to move the storm doors, shower doors and the anchor bars ourselves as they were left in the middle of the floor. We had done all we could by 11, so I paid her and called Paul to see when he would be up. Soon as the truck was almost loaded so I sat on my little stool, drank my coke and read my book while waiting for the truck to arrive.
Paul arrived in our truck with some lunch, A&W hamburgers and we waited for the moving van to arrive.
There were 3 men so the move-in went quickly. My 1st request was that they find me a proper chair to sit in. Which they did, so 'the boss lady' could give directions as to where to place things. Hey guess what? We still have too much here and we have a storage locker filled too. The last stop was to drop off things to that locker and all was finished by 4. The total for packing and moving was around 3500. A good deal. Now I just have to open and empty lots of boxes so we can really begin to live here in Olds.
