happy fourth everyone.
as a disclaimer before i go on, this summer i have been on like 3 band message boards. one im actually interested in and 2 because i'm bored and far too lazy to change that. people were on the relient k board talking about the live 8 concerts and a couple people were so ignorant to say "after helping other countries for 20 years we need to help ourselves" and if we turned our attention to one problem at a time, we would slowly but surely fix all the problems in the world. now not that i post on there much, but really. naive, much? it's interesting i guess to see how other people think....but today, appropriately enough, i thought i'd just recap what came to mind when i read that.
america has::::ACCESS TO::::free public schools that we are forced to attend to ensure some chance in life. free or reduced lunch at said schools in the event you are, unfortunately, hard for money. medicine. insurance to pay for expensive medicine. shelter if you can't afford your own. soup kitchens. unemployment offices. i will admit to being cynical of the "american dream" because i think it's turned us into convenience fiends driven by greed. but, america takes care of itself. not only because it has to, but because it can.
