Title: Dangerous
Author: Tyleet27
Rating: NC-17. Perhaps a bit disturbing, edges around non-con.
Prompt:61. Batman remains the same, but the Joker is genderbent into a woman. Cue the tabloids' cry of 'ABUSE! ABUSE!' and feminists psychoanalyzing the hell out of female!Joker and Batman--just Gotham's general reaction to their Guardian routinely

Firstly, I've adored all your previous fiction but never reviewed as I could never think of anything intelligent enough to say and didn't want to burden your reviews with 'OMG, thats so HAWT!'
Aw, don't be shy! That's totally the kind of feedback I leave all the time. But I'm happy that you liked them!
Okay, as ladyK said above, srs feminist tiems now!
There is just something so despicably dirty and offensive about that statement, isn't there? Almost as if the concept of a female with the same power and ferocity as a male Joker is so difficult to believe that it's brought down to the same status as 'nagging girlfriend/wife.'
And yeah, Tony Stark would be my representative for...the rest of the misogynistic world, basically. I'm imagining him pre-Iron Man here, at his bitchiest height. I don't mean to bash IM here--I love Tony! But you're exactly right, Gotham has this sense of disbelief in a tiny female being that dangerous, whereas they're terrified of the male version. FemJoker can be reduced to nagging girlfriend, and the worst way people reduce male Joker is by calling him crazy, which--you know, he is, so it's not offensive.
Oh, and I do think Bruce/Batman would still be aggressive.
I think Bruce has a healthy sense of respect for his enemies, which stops him from underestimating her or holding himself back at all. Sure, he's bigger and stronger than FemJoker, but he's bigger and stronger than male Joker too--and he doesn't hesitate to beat him up. Of course, he didn't cross the line with male Joker until Rachel and Harvey were in danger, and Rachel and Harvey are big enough deals that it made him cross the line. I think their deaths are big enough deals that he wouldn't ever underestimate the Joker for being a woman, or hesitate to be viciously aggressive. Does that make sense?
Personally, I love the idea of a female joker- that is seeing a female character not only having so much presence, power and authority, but being subjected to violence while all the while having a manic grin plastered on her face.
Yup, yup, me too. : P And I'm glad you thought she was charmingly hideous! I didn't want to sexualize her at all, because while I think the Joker is very sexy, it's all in this weird, can't quite pin it down way. I mean, think about it: his hair is greasy and green, he's hunched and scarred and probably smelly--I mean, the man's teeth are rotting, you know? I didn't want to genderbend him and suddenly give him a makeover and a sense of personal hygiene, because that's not the character as I see him.
I don't think Batman sees FemJoker or Male!Joker as actually attractive, at least on a surface level. It's a magnetic, moth going into a flame thing for him that he doesn't really understand, he just knows he likes it and shouldn't.
Thank you again for the comment! : )

The below description of your female Joker pretty much sums up why I do love the idea of her so much. I wanted to articulate this in my review, but couldn't find the words:
"female Joker isn't really overly concerned with her femaleness, partly because of the whole multi-verse thing. She knows she's the Joker before she hits any other descriptor, and that's the part that matters to her. "
I love that. Her gender comes second. You know what? That is probably the most sane thing ever! Why can't everybody be like that?
