plenty of room in my single bed

I still lie on my side of the bed.
I leave enough room for you
for when you are lying next to me
in my dreams.
my arm is still out touching you
or underneath your head.
I still talk you to sleep,
b/c you liked my soothing voice.
I still say the words that make you fell safe.
I can smell you on my sheets,
it reminds me of home.
*imaginary*
you cuddled next to me
telling me about your day
or how I keep you warm

but now I go to bed with my light on
so I can see it when you walk in my door
or for when I wake back up
and realize that I am spooning with my worst nightmare
that you are never coming back to bed.

I cant make a change in the way that I sleep
but I am working on being a better person when I am awake.
