Also on Wednesday i went to find a journal for Kim's "Dr. Death" project/graduation present. it had to be perfect, to somehow "scream serial killer," to give a little hint as to the writing that will hopefully go on inside it. i had alreaddy tried the Boulder Bookstore--there was a journal there that was ok (black/red cover) but it was smaller than i had remembered. then Wends i went to Barnes and Noble: nothing that even came close. however, i did find a really nice journal for myself: it's cream colored with retro looking flowers all over it, all purple and fuschia (the color i've become obssessed with as of late). i can't wait to use it. Then, as i was walking to the bus stop in front of B&N, i heard a voice call my name from the cross walk i had just crossed; it was JUNIOR BURKE (Chair of Writing/Poetics, one of my/Kim's favorite people). he asked me if i need a ride and i said yes, to the 29th st. mall, please. we made small talk about my travel plans (NY and ironically Boston) and how the predident of Naropa is leaving :( (i was suprised at the news). we got kinda lost because i have no sense of space or direction but we finally found Borders, where Junior dropped me off. there, i stumbled upon a white spiral bound journal w/ green skull and cross-bones. i thought: PERFECT! then i glanced at another shelf and saw a thick black cloth bound journal w/ multi-colored skulls on it and thought: EVEN MORE PERFECT! so, in a way, without Junior i might have never found the perfect "Dr. Death" journal for Kim.
today i must
-go to the SWP office to pick up Jeanine2's sourcebook
-return to Target for blank CD's, chocolate chips (supplies for Mittie and my cd burning party tonight) and another $6.99 v-neck t-shirt that is soft, comfortable and that i need another one of
-bake cookies for tonight (i haven't baked in soooo long!)
-type up my first MFA assignment for the Summer Writing Program. (ICSNY/9-11 Commission Report interview)
-start packing for NY/Boston
yay for busy days that are actually fun!
