Rebounding from the brink.

So I've written about five thousand words today.

I'm shaking just a bit. Though those could also be shivers. Been sitting by a cold window for awhile on a marathon to 9k words.

I got to 9395. I wanted 9500, but, I had to stop. I needed food, a bathroom break, should consider sleep soon. I was on fire today.

What's new about the fic:

Title: Gotham's Finest: From the Ashes [Nolan-verse]
Time: Two months after the events of The Dark Knight
Characters: Barbara Gordon (the younger!), Jim Gordon as primary POV characters. Batman is taking a supporting role, and a bunch of characters from the comics and animated series are going to be popping up; mostly officers. And a surprise addition the end--more of a teaser than anything else.

What's It About: Mostly, the Gordons. What we have to guess is that Jim Gordon is not perfect--he's got something hiding in his past. This story dregs that up, and while The Dark Knight served to test Bruce, this will test Jim. We don't know very much about the Gordons when Batman was just starting out, and how Barbara (the younger) came to be in Gotham.

What I fear is that Nolan will never get to tell this story, which breaks my heart because at this point I would place all my trust in him giving Barbara/Batgirl a respectable treatment. He's done masterfully with Jim (hearts!). Gary Oldman was such a wonderful choice for Jim Gordon.

I could keep gushing about everything Gordon, but I need to chill out so I can get to sleep (too excited to sleep). At this point I should've been up to 21k words, but to come up with 5k to help close the deficit in one day, I'm cautiously optimistic about completing NaNoWriMo. I know at this point it would be really difficult, but I'm going to try my best.

This is the most material I've produced since May, when I completed my first novel. This is going to be longer than 50k, so it won't be DONE done, but, we'll see what happens.
