“Aren’t you afraid of the full moon?”

“No. Why would I be?”

“Cause you could turn into a were-bat!”

The sentence was followed by an explosion of giggles which died out into a series of little snorts. Two teenagers sat on the rooftop of one of the tallest buildings in Gotham. The boy held a bottle in a paper bag on his lap. The air between them was doused in the scent of cheap wine. Their bodies were covered in gadgets and mystery.

“Are you drunk already?” Terry inquired, trying to push down the laughter bubbling in his gut. The girl, young and rosy cheeked and a thief, nodded with great exaggeration.

“I’m a light weight,” she confessed with a shrug. “But it’s only cause I let myself be.” Anna Graham, as was the girl’s non-costumed name, pushed her purple wig back until it had fallen off. “Sure does make my head hot…” she mumbled. Terry wasn’t really listening. He was looking up at the moon and taking another large gulp of the inexpensive alcoholic beverage they had treated themselves too. Now that he thought about it her half was probably stolen money.

“What do ya think they’d think of this?” He asked.

“Well, Grandpa’s got Alzheimer’s so he doesn’t think much.” Terry shot her a glance and handed over the wine to her outstretched fingers.

“You know what I mean. Vigilante and villain sitting on a roof getting drunk together. Masks off. Kinda defeats the purpose.” Anna wiped a few drops of wine that had slipped from her lips on the back of her gloved hand. She thought over what Terry had said to her for a moment where her face was all seriousness. Finally she shrugged and passed the bottle back to him.

“We’re two teenagers. They’re lucky we aren’t doing it up here,” she said in a voice that was no nonsense. Then she giggled again and proceeded to howl at the moon. Terry laughed until he had to put the nearly empty bottle to the side for fear he would drop it. Once he had regained his composure he turned his gaze upward and followed her lead.
