I will post a pic later... just back from the vet.
There is no way to make the decision to put a beloved pet down, easy. She was a loving, funny, vocal, feline that was a neighborhood stray that we took in in the late fall, early winter of 2002. The vet that examined her then said she was old and would not last long... here, nearly 6.5 years later, we finally had to make that heart numbing trip to the vet.
She had developed petit mal seizures, a palpable mass in her abdomen, occasion blood in her stool, lose of hair, not like shedding, but in clumps. With all this, and what appeared to be feline dementia to boot, she was still sweet and loving, cuddly and responsive to our every move and word.
What amazed me was that this time, when I set the carrier on the floor and opened the door, she just walked in, like she knew.... and when we got to the exam room, she just walked out, like she was ready... no resistance, no fear, but with an almost bravery... I have never seen this behavior before... it was almost as if she were trying to make it easier for ME!
Topaz.... you left a hole in my heart, but I know my memories of you will fill it eventually... Sweet baby girl... I will miss our evening time together...I will miss your naps on my chest...
RIP.... see ya at the Rainbow Bridge....
