top ten video games!
So upon much deliberation I have finally made an official list that I've been working on for quite a long time........my top ten favorite video games ever!!!!!!!

Now most of you don't care, but this took me some time to formulate and I find it interesting and this is my space to write whatever the fuck I want. That being said, it'd be nice if you read it.....cuz it's interesting....I swear!
Now some people say it's dumb to make such lists....and they're right....but lists are fun....so fuck them.
Here they are...I put what system they were on in here too in case anyone was curious..probably not though....counting down from ten of course (gotta build some suspense)......
10. Gears of War(Xbox360)-One of the more recent games on my list (but not the most recent), and for that reason it almost didn't make it on here. I contemplated putting Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Perfect Dark, or Zelda: Majora's Mask in this spot (3 games that are also amazing and worthy of such a list..but alas there are only ten spots) but upon further deliberation I decided to put this here. The reason? It's simply the most bad ass video game ever created. You're a tough ass marine who shoots mole people with a gun that has a chainsaw on it! How fucking cool is that! Also, the environment this game has is simply incredible which are helped by the absolutely jaw dropping graphics. But it's not just the graphics.....the way the marines talk (it's a fucking party down here), the way you can kick around severed heads and limbs....everything about this game is just polished. Also, the co-op mode on insane while playing through the story campaign with a friend is simply some of the funnest 10-15 hours you'll have in your life. Multiplayer on live is awesome too, I wish I could play it more. Can't wait for the sequel.
9. Resident Evil 2(Playstation,N64)-This is a game that I have completely mastered. I've probably beaten it upwards of twenty times. At the height of my talents I could beat the entire game in an hour and a half (took me 12 hours my first time!). Also a game that made me a life long fan of the Resident Evil series. This game was the perfection of the original Resident Evil formula. Everything that was good about the original, it took it to the next level. Not to mention it introduced one of videogame's greatest characters, Leon Kennedy. Also, still one of the absolute best stories of any video game I've ever played and definately the best story of the series. Everyone now...say it with me....ADAAAAAAAA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! A classic.
8. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past(Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, Wii Virtual Console)-The first, but not last, Zelda game on my list. This game is a fucking MASTERPIECE. It is the perfect 2-D Zelda game and basically created the modern Zelda "formula" that exists today. In fact one can argue that all Zelda games since have been a rip off of the exact structure of Link to the Past. And they're right. But the fact that every new Zelda game that comes out is a candidate for the best game ever, it truly shows how good that formula is. This is my favorite Super Nintendo game ever and I consider the Super Nintendo to be one of the, if not the, best systems ever. I just recently replayed it through the Wii's virtual console and it hasn't aged a day. Amazing. The fact that there's two Zelda games I like more then this is actually pretty fucking crazy when you consider how good this game is.
7. Metal Gear Solid 3 (Playstation 2)-Ah, Metal Gear Solid. A series that combines brilliant gameplay with storytelling that can rival movies. This is never more apparent then in Metal Gear Solid 3 (I recomend the Subistence version over the original, due to the addition of full camera control...both are fucking awesome though). It takes the tried and true stealth gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 and then puts a new twist on it by making the whole game take place in the jungle. Survival becomes the new theme as you have no radar and are also forced to hunt for food to stay alive. Also, you have to treat your wounds, so when you get shot, you have to take the bullet out and sew yourself up or else you'll never fully heal. Truly innovative gameplay that seems complicated, but isn't at all when you get into it. It works perfect. Also, one can't talk about how great this game is without mentioning the storyline. Simply, the best and most emotionally powerful video game storyline ever. Fuck Final Fantasy, video game storytelling doesn't get any better then this......most books and movies don't get better then this. If one game is going to make you cry......this is it. Hopefully Metal Gear Solid 4 can live up to this high standard....and let's also hope that it comes out on another system other then the Playstation 3 cuz I don't want to spend 600 dollars on that.
6. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube, Playstation 2, Wii)-After the subpar response to Resident Evil 0 (a game that I fucking hate), Capcom decided to do something risky. They were going to overhaul the Resident Evil gameplay completely, and turn it into less of a survival horror game and more of an action/horror shooter game, taking a huge influence from games like Metal Gear Solid (I often refer to this game as Resident Evil Solid). Fans were understandably skeptical. The result? ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME. One of the most intense experiences you can ever play, I've never played a better shooter in my life. The enemies can run and weapons now, you can upgrade your guns, there's ammo everywhere.....this game is ACTION from beginning to end. It's not mindless action at all however, as one needs to formulate strategies and battle tactics in order to survive. Also, Leon Kennedy returns to the Resident Evil series! If you haven't played this game yet, play it. If you enjoy video games you'll love it. Also, I'm actually looking foward to the upcoming wii version a bit, because if there's a game from the last generation that's perfect for wii controls this is it. The aiming will be amazing! Sure, one of the weaker storylines in the Resident Evil series, but when the gameplay is this amazing......who gives a fuck? The graphics are still amazing. Can't wait for Resident Evil 5. Can't fucking wait.

5. Super Mario 64 (N64, DS, Wii Virtual Console)-As the original Super Mario Bros. created modern 2D game design.....Super Mario 64 set the template that all 3D games would follow. Mario controls perfect, the levels are fun and varied, there's so much to do and so much to explore.....I could talk forever about this game but everyone knows how good it is. If you haven't played it......then you're crazy! Go play it right now! A timeless classic and the most influential/innovative 3-D game ever.
4. Goldeneye 007 (N64)-This game is ten years old now. Ten years. There still, in TEN YEARS, hasn't been a better first person shooter. Seriously, plug it in, play it now. It's still better then Halo. Me and my friends still play it all the time. Without a doubt the best videogame based on a movie ever. Great single player game mixed with one of the best multiplayer games ever. I've probably poured YEARS of my life into this game. It's about the only thing I remember from middle school, along with Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. Also, the follow up, Perfect Dark was also amazing. The modern Xbox 360 follow up to Perfect Dark, Perfect Dark Zero, sucked ass, however. Once again, you all know how fucking awesome this game is.
3. Super Mario Bros 3 (NES, Game Boy Advance)-THE BEST MARIO GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....that's all I need to say.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, Gamecube)-The most recent game on my list is my number 2 favorite game! Isn't that a little recent to get such an honor? Don't I have to let some time go to make an honest assesment of the game? No. Play it. You'll see why. Rivals Ocarina of Time as the best of the series....and for that alone it has to be on anyone's list of the best games ever. The core gameplay is as polished and perfect as the series gets, and the story was dramatic, dark and engaging. Also, the wii controls on the wii version were absolutely brilliant and I would never want to go back to an old controller to play this game. The world was big, not as big as games like Oblivion, but it was also filled with personality and life in a way that a game like Oblivion never could be. Every inch of this world has something to it. Videogames don't get any better then this. Unless of course it's....

It's basically universally considered to be the best video game ever made, and everyone is right. Sure, the game is basically just Link to the Past in 3-D....but it is also PERFECT. I play through it at least once a year (a tradition that I will most definatley continue on with Twilight Princess). My favorite Zelda storyline, some of the best dungeons and bosses, Saria......everything about this game oozes perfection. The best game. Ever.
