MMMMM...COFFEE. Nothing beats waking up 2-3 hours before you'd prefer because your dog drank too much water before bed and won't stop scratching you until you take him outside to avoid him pissing himself. Cooper, you adorable little bastard. You're too cute for me to stay angry at you.
I went down to the Guitar Center this past weekend, and the used Marshall I wanted to pick up was no longer there, unfortunately. Everything else is significantly more expensive so I guess I've got some more saving to do. But while I was there I decided that the next time I get a new guitar, I'm getting an SG instead of a Les Paul as I had originally planned. The Les Paul has a lot of hype behind it, but I think I honestly prefer the SG.

Friday I practiced with Gene, as usual, but this time we were downing beers instead of Red Bulls now that we're both capable of legally obtaining alcohol. Actually, there were still Red Bulls too. Good stuff. I could get used to this. Gene's girlfriend Megan and two of her...friends? Sisters? Cousins? I don't recall, but they came by to take a listen and all said we were teriff. Considering they don't really listen to anything too punk/whatevercore related, it was good, yet surprising, to hear.
After practice I wound up running into Hector and Wetherington. Steven said something about not having his phone last weekend? I don't know. But he claimed he still wanted to come out and take a listen. He also mentioned wanting to start doing vocals along the lines of Hot Water Music or Kid Dynamite. I was fucking floored. I don't know that I ever expected Steven to ever express interest in creating melody. I figured I'd have to coax him into it. Not to mention the fact that Chris Wollard and Jason Shevchuk are huge influences on how I like to sing as well. If he were to actually follow through with it, he would be exactly what I'm looking for for the Woods.
Saturday- Hector and Steven came out to the practice space. I taught Hector "Songwriting For Dummies" and he picked it up really easily. I'm super impressed at how comfortable he is on bass for not being a bassist. I really underestimated how much time he spent on it as a hobby. I wrote the lyrics to the same song down for Steven and we ran through it for him to give him an idea of what we're going for. He seemed to really dig it. The plan is for him to listen to recordings and try to learn it over the week and we'll get together with him again this weekend.
I'm pretty stoked on how things are going. I never in a million years would have seen myself playing music with Steven or Tito again. Weird how things work out sometimes.
