well im back from the sounds. amazing and a huge mess when we got home. lol kayos rules our house and is getting so big!!! meh we will just take her with us next time we go to the sounds.
well the crossing was good we did it in a 36foot launch with friends of Matts family. was a bit rough just getting out of wellington but apart from that it was rather calm. we left the marina and about 1 and got to the sounds at about r so it wasnt a massively long trip or anything. was amusing anyway - there were two 19 year old poms with us who had no idea really. they were both lovely people/boys (the accent NOM NOM - but the age kinda made u cringe a little...) either way they really enjoyed themselves too.. as we were getting into the sounds we had two dolphins playing behind the boat. im sure it was Jack and Jill - they are two dolphins that seem to hang out alot in the sounds. (love that i can relate to the sounds) was also nice to be dropped off at the batch rather than go right past it as u do in th ferry.. thats really annoying!!!
we had a bit of a fish the next day but all we seemed to catch was these big mouth orange fish i called them either guppies or goldfish but i dont think thats what they are, but they were mostly undersized so they all got thrown back. we did manage to get 2 blue cods which we ate for lunch that day, NOM NOM NOM fresh fish. the guy who owned the boat then went for a dive to get some paua so the kids(poms) could try it. was a first for me to try it too and i loved it!!!! its so good. i got a few recipes while i was away so i will have to try them sometime.
either way i had a great weekend. love the sounds still and am still learning alot about the place. but i have come to realize how much i hate the digger but thats for a whole bunch of reasons and i do understand that Matt wouldn't drive it in quite the same places his dad (who cant actually drive it very well) does. this is a very good thing.
on our way back to picton we saw a couple of seals which was fun. it always amazes me how when we go down there we seem to slide into the isolation really well and then we also seem to slide out of it just as easily.
moving there only ever seems to get more and more tempting.. watch this space maybe?
