Dear Diary.

Yes, I know, a ridiculous thing to do in the 21st century, it feels rather Victorian, but I had the urge. So, Dear Diary.

I woke up this morning with a hangover. It wasn't quite bad enough to be considered a "raging hangover" but it was pretty bad.
I went to The Harp last night. I bailed on work slightly early, and read my book for a bit (Among Others, by Jo Walton). I was later joined by Rick (foxsoup/forfoxsake), and then JM. We managed to convince Rick to stay for longer than he'd intended, and had a very nice time.
My palate tired of the ale I was drinking, so I started on some 6% dry cider. This was the mistake that cost me my Friday I feel.
JM thought I was pretty drunk so grabbed a black cab to take home. This was a mistake for a couple of reasons.
- 1 I'm anti-cab at the moment as they're all Brexiteers and racists.
- 2 The traffic was dire due to some incident (who knows what) and we got out after a mile or less. We walked across a couple of streets and took the bus.

Fuck Brexit.

I'm working as a contractor at at the moment. The technology is interesting, but the team social aspects are not very good at all. I'm feeling a bit bored too, which is always frustrating.
It feels that they didn't really do the ground work that should have been done to bring a contracting team on board. There was no handover, no documentation, no induction. I was basically tossed at github and some mediocre README files. I'm getting there, but it's slower than it should be.

I'm considering learning more mathematics. I've always been bad at maths, but working with Liz from Business Intelligence and her Logistical Regression model has made me want to learn more, at least enough to be able to communicate with data scientists properly. I don't hold a lot of hope that I'll find such things easy.
On a related note, really disappointed that Open University's password requirements are 8-12 characters, with only letters and numbers. That's pretty weak in 2016. Weak cryptographically, and weak from a business perspective.

It's a quarter past 11 in the evening, and I've had a few drinks. A bloody mary offset the hangover, then a few Spritzes, then some red wine. I'm having a nice time.

There's an LFM tomorrow, which I'll be going to. Looking forwards to it actually. We have someone staying over tomorrow night. I have to clean the bathroom before he turns up.
