Recently there was some talk on Facebook between
jellyjenn , myself and Miss N about blogging our kitchen creations. The two of them do a lot of baking. In fact, recently
jellyjenn made a birthday cake for my step mother called
Orange Cardamom Cake. This isn't the recipe she used, but it's close, I'm sure. She dressed it with a delicious nut-butter cream frosting that was to DIE for!! OMG tasty.
My step mother gushed so much about it, then declared it her new favourite - bumping aside Carrot Cake, and decided she had to meet the baker. At some point soon, we three will get together for a brunch or dinner.
I thought I'd add to my blog a post about my kitchen creations of this week. The other day I made a beef soup (yes soup, not stew) with stewing beef, sweet potato, baby white potatoes, celery and carrots. It only got to simmer for 5 hours in the crock pot, but none-the-less, came out delicious.
Last night, with a house full of sick people, I decided we needed fruit salad so I picked up some favourites at the store last night and spent an hour this morning chopping, cutting, and sharing pieces of mandarins and strawberries with the bug. Nope.. no protein for us for breakfast. :)
This salad is super easy. Wash, cut/chop all sorts of fruits, then liberally dose with maple syrup. Normally I would also throw in some kind of granola/nut cereal but I don't have any in the pantry right now. It adds a special level of texture to this salad. Unfortunately R had to rush off to an appointment so he missed breakfast. As you can see, there is plenty left for when he gets home later.
