God.
Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm going to be emo about it here and it doesn't matter one fucking bit, so scroll ahead unless you're bored at work.
Arcade Fire is my favorite band in the whole wide world. I was supposed to see them at the Gorge tonight, and I had to sell my tickets.
I will probably have a nice, hefty cry to myself tonight while I'm in Redmond/Bend/Sisters for a wedding that I'm booked to do makeup for. Not kidding. I have so many emotional ties to this band, it's hilarious.
The first time I saw them was at the Gorge actually; ten years ago this year. I remember dancing barefoot in the grass to "Neighborhood 1 (Tunnels)", and id liked the band well enough to buy a ticket.....but their live show? Another story entirely. This is the band that brought me and my co-worker together, who I thought was a total bitch until I found out she liked Arcade Fire. David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen confirm Arcade Fire as their favorite new band in the last ten years. Both veterans have performed with said band. Bowie even showed up unannounced and recorded back up vocals, UNCREDITED, on their latest album. Bowie covered one of their original songs. Blondie performed one of their songs with them.
Do I need to keep going? Thank god I get to see them in Brooklyn. I love Arcade Fire forever and ever.
