Snowed In

Feb 10, 2010 10:59

Yep, we're getting TONS of the white stuff here. We had about 20 or so inches over the weekend, and it's coming down hard again. Apparently the storm over the weekend was the 4th largest that our area has ever seen.

Everybody keeps remembering back to the big storm in 1993. We have these pictures of me as a kid standing on our shoveled sidewalk with snow banks WAY over my head on either side. Let's put it this way, if the snow gets deep enough for that to happen again, we're in SERIOUS trouble! (put it this way, I was 3 then...and short...I'm 5'10" now XD)

But, one good thing came of this. IUP had the sense about them to cancel classes. The sidewalks in the Oak Grove (the area most other colleges call the Quad), were so packed with snow, that you couldn't even SEE the concrete. You just kind of traveled with a control slide across really packed snow paths.

So here I am sitting at home with my sister, doing laundry and trying to keep a splitting sinus headache at bay.

Yesterday was exciting, I completed my first Flash animation! It was short and very spastic looking because it was only 30 frames long, but it was animated all the same. I would post it if I knew how. But we haven't gone over that kind of stuff yet. So, it's just saved as a Flash file on the schools drive. I wish I had Flash at home to work with. I'll have to look and see if there are any special student deals available at our book store.

I also worked with the Bone tool in the program. (many giggles were had listening to my Prof using Bone as a verb XD)

I made a picture of Crowley from Good Omens (who I boned *snortgigglesnort*) And did some screen captures.

Check it out!

There's a story behind this as well.

After I had completely drawn dear Crowley, I couldn't, for the life of me, get the bone tool to actually work. It wouldn't connect into 'joints', or whatever. So I emailed my Prof, he told me the simple mistake that I had made, and I fixed it.

But before all of that happened, I was very frustrated because I didn't know what the hell I was doing wrong. I glared at little Crowley on the screen and called him a Bastard.

I drew him in Flash and called him a bastard.

In the book, he's referred to as the 'Flash Bastard'.

I then let out a very undignified snort of laughter in the library, causing quite a few people to give me very odd looks. XD
