Snoocie Boochies

So this weekend went quite well. I went to the May Mart on Saturday with Adrienne. May Mart is like a big craft and flower bazaar. Our fudge peddler was there again! <3 And he remembered us! (which of course got us some free samples so of course we didn't complain <3)

I got a couple of bracelets, and I found a booth where a lady was selling jewelry made out of chain mail. She had really cool bracelets and necklaces with chain mail stars on them. I couldn't pass those up. I picked a star that was green and silver...because it reminded me of the brooches that the Fellowship received in Lothlorien.

Speaking of which, Friday night, my sister asked if we could watch Lord of the Rings. I shrugged and figured why the hell not, there wasn't anything good on TV anyway. As we watched it she had a bunch of questions, ones that I tried to answer, but some of the stuff I couldn't remember.

By the time we were on the end of Return of the King (and I had got done crying like a shameless little girl), she asked me whether or not all of the Hobbits went to the Grey Havens after Frodo. I knew Sam did, but I was pretty sure that Merry and Pippin were laid to rest in Gondor. But I kept second guessing myself, so I went back and dug out my copy of Return of the King to look it up in the Appendix.

The strangest thing happened when I opened it. For all the people out there as nerdy as I am when it comes to books, you'll probably know what I'm talking about.

As I was flipping through to the back of the book, I smelled the pages turning, that wonderful book smell. All of the books I have, have different smells, but there is just something about my Lord of the Rings books that stick out to me.

The smell hit me and I was instantly reminded of sitting out on my porch on a warm summer evening at age 13. It was one of the most wonderful things. I felt so happy. That's when I decided that it was high time that I read the series again.

I mean, that was 6 years ago!! How crazy is that?! It doesn't seem that long ago, but my word it's been AGES! I got the Fellowship out last night and I'm a few pages into the first chapter and I can't believe that I read something like this at such a young age. It's a challenging read compared to what else I was reading at the time.

Ah well, hopefully reading again will jog my memory on some parts that I'm hazy on. :D I'm looking forward to reading it again.
