Into the Fire

Let's see...here's what I did this weekend.

Friday- Watched an amazing Olympic opening ceremony, and played "Guess that Nation!" with my Mum

Saturday- Went to Lindsey's graduation party. It was a blast! A nice little catch up before some of us leave for college. Luckily a certain someone didn't bring his Amanda. We decided that we're going to be Olympic badminton players and we played shuffleboard for the first time, thus discovering another sport that I FAIL at.

Sunday-

Okay, so we leave for the concert and just about 20 minutes from the Pavilion, we pass this car that has "ROCK OF LOVE 3!!!" painted all over the windows. >__> That's not the aspect of my personality that I'd be broadcasting. All poor Brett ever gets on that show are stupid skanks. ((call me Brett...I'm not a skank, and I'll love you for who you are and not your fame. I'm not kidding))

AAAAAAnyway, we got there and thankfully there weren't as many drunks as there were for Crue and Aerosmith. XD We got to our seats no problem and then we sat and waited for Sebastian to come on.

7 o'clock on the dot, they started. They opened with "Back in the Saddle" an Aerosmith cover. God...he's friggin' fantastic. He still sounds the same as he did when he first started <3 I did feel bad for him though. Since he was the opening act, a lot of people were still not in the actual pavilion (aka out in the parking lot tail gating). But after his second song, he shouted, "HEY PEOPLE IN THE PARKING LOT! IT'S TIME TO GET IN HERE AND JOIN THE FUCKING ROCK CONCERT!" and everyone cheered.

After a bit, more people began to file in. Through out his bit, he sang quite a few Skid Row songs: "Monkey Business", and I almost DIED when he did "18 and Life", and "I Remember You". *swoon* But it wasn't until he pointed to his right forearm...then the crowd went wild.

*for those who don't know he has "Youth Gone Wild" tattooed there* That song...the way he sang it, and the way the audience responded...was easily the most metal moment of my entire goddamn life.

Then it was time for Dokken. Holy shit...Dokken. It's always a measure of the talent of a band to see if they sound the same live as they do on their records.

Dokken sounds BETTER. It was amazing. They did a few of their new songs which were great, but "In My Dreams" was the best by far. Don told a story before "Breaking the Chains", about how he wrote it after visiting Germany, and he was feeling depressed. He had just run out of Top Ramen, which he dubbed "The Ultimate Rock and Roll food", and how people were insisting that rock was dead. But, even with the "fuckin' crap they call music today", that we (the audience) were "proving those assholes wrong!"

Once, he looked to the side, and saw this little girl in the front row. She must have been 5 or 6. He told her that if he were 60 or 70 years younger XD, that he'd definitely be swooning all over her. Then, he brought her up on stage and sang "Alone Again" to her. She looked so scared. But it was incredibly touching, and he sang it beautifully.

After they finished with "In My Dreams", it was time for Poison! They came out with "Talk Dirty to Me", and it was great. They did all of their hits, including "Ride the Wind". I went ballistic. That's my favorite Poison song!

During "Something to Believe In", he had the crowd sway their arms back and forth, it looked great. Then, a roadie came out with a camera, and Brett informed us that he was filming scenes for the opening for 'Rock of Love III', and that he'd be damned if his home town wasn't featured in the opening! So watch for me! XD

Throughout their portion, they did two solos. One was CC, the guitarist. He did 'Eruption' and then free styled for a bit. Then he ended with 'Amazing Grace', which sounds almost as good on a guitar as it does on bagpipes!

Then, Rikki did a drum solo. After he was done on the set, he sat on a box and did this cool little stomp style solo.

After all that, they came out and ended with "Every Rose Has it's Thorn" which was even more beautiful live.

Finally, after all the excitement, we left for home. But not with out meeting a couple whom I so lovingly called, "The Happy Go Lucky Twins". They...were...DRUNK! And as we were heading for the parking lot, they linked hands, did 'ring-around-the-rosie' while singing. "We didn't get arrested...but we easily could have". It was fantastic!

But, as of now, as I type this, I have very sore knees, almost no voice, and I'm COMPLETELY satisfied!

Here are the pictures that turned out semi-well, I have very shaky hands, so they're pretty blurry. Bas's are even worse, he NEVER stopped moving!
