I was going to send this to the Sun, but then I got the press release from Mr. Rivas, so I might wait. Tell me what you think.

Dear Editor,
I am writing in regards to the article entitled 'Extra Extra' Special in the October 15th edition of the Sun. I am a member of the Naperville North Marching Band, and I am appalled at how little respect we received for our accomplishment in your newspaper. Winning second in state in this competition might very well be the biggest highlight of the high school careers of some 150 students. We were acknowledged with a nice blurb and pictures of members of another band. If the Naperville North Football team had come second in state, would you have reported this news with black and white photos of another team? Of course not! It would have received a full-page color photo of the team holding their trophy over their heads in victory. I think our accomplishments deserve the same amount of recognition. Did you think to interview students? Include the final standings and that 2nd through 5th place were within a 1.15 point spread? Did you even think to include a picture of our band? Or were you too busy writing about the Sox? I had always thought the Naperville Sun to be a good, supportive, local paper. Now I think I might be forced to think otherwise. Thank you once again, Naperville Sun, for proving that in our society, sports are more important than art.
