in responce to Natalie's(~nattlezabee) latest post on her LJ because it wouldnt let me comment such a long post.
in defense to SOME of the people you all are thinking of.. ( definitly not all of them..)
Being core or whatever it is can be thrown out the window in my book.
Its not about your tattoo's or piercings either and im pretty sure the real kids know it. It's about passion and love for the music. Not about playing an instrument.. its about being fucking real. Maybe sometimes there can be an elite attitude type of vibe coming from some of them but of course there is when you grow up in a town like north providence.. and you watch how everyone copies each other in hopes of being cool.. you watch how fake everyone is, knowing how real you are, Its not that anyone is a better person.. its just that when it comes to the "scene" or whatever you want to call it.. there are the people who are real and have passion and love for it.. and there are the people who dont know a god damn thing about music. There are the people who are completely fake. There are people who go out of their way to be as different as possible.. there are people who have a passion for NOTHING but Attention.
(for example) you watch how one minute your the only band in North Providence High School and you have a love for music and a talent for your instruments and then the very next year you have 10 bands full of kids who know more about putting their gay makeup on than playing their instruments. You have these kids trying to get attention by wearing dresses on stage and just trying so hard to be cool.
Im so disgusted at how fake some people in North Providence are. But the main reason for my discontent is because when I was a freshman.. I got my balls busted for everything I did because I was the only one there doing it. You didnt see any other kids down at the library skateboarding because everyone was too stuck on the trend of listening to rap and wearing their Tommy Hillfiger clothing. I've watched so many kids go from being a stuck up prep to being some punk rocker all because of the amount of attention they get and how much the trends around town are evolving.
When your a kid who does something first that normally isnt accepted in your school or town.. and then you watch as people slowly follow as it becomes safe to do.. well then my friends, you might as well have a bad attitude towards the whole thing.
Some people are just too fucking stupid to realize how fake they are though.. and thats why you should ignore people like that.. because if your a kid like me who took the heat for being REAL which later became more and more of a trend.. well its not worth paying any attention to the people who dont know a damn thing about music.. and dont know a damn thing about being real. Because your only going to get pissed off and end up arguing on some message board on the internet with an elitest attitude, and anyone can talk shit on the internet.
in defense of Justin, if you dont like him well thats your problem.. but he is a brave mother fucker for being one of the first kids to get up on stage and scream his heart around here with music HE WROTE.. music HE FELT.. IT DOESNT MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK IT IS.. its about the passion and feelings behind that voice. When your in a band and your playing in front of 500+ highschool kids, in which 99% of them listen to rap or just never even heard a hardcore band before.. You have guts to get up there and show your music in front of 500 people who you already know will not like it anyways. Yeah he and some others can be elitest at times.. But kids like him.. shawn.. joe.. nick..dan.. they are musicians.. they have talent yes, but even more so they have love and passion for THEIR OWN music.. and hardcore isnt the only style of music they can play.. Believe me.. i've been in quite a few bands with all these kids.. its alot of work to make a CD and play gigs.. more work than anyone really realizes. And yes.. I know from experience.
And as far as hardcore goes.. well you need to have a love for hardcore in order to even like it.. otherwise you just wont be able to get into it, which is completely understandable.
I cant stop people from having their opinions of kids like justin.. but one thing none of you can say is that he is fake. one thing none of you can say is that that kid doesnt have passion for what he does. Call him elitest..call me elitest shit we all are sometimes ill even say it.. but it doesnt hurt to be called elitest in a town like North Providence. It does, however, hurt to be called fake.
If people would just get their heads out of their asses and concentrated on life and the things they have passion and love for.. I think people would get along more.. Im all for peace and everyone getting along.. but it just wont happen when people are too stupid to even realize how fake they are.
Anyways... I dont mean any of this towards you natalie.. but I had to comment on your post and comment towards some of the people posting comments on your post.
