Gerard

That any relation to Michael Way? Did he honestly just ask me that question? Does this man know my once fragile little brother that adored me? Bob’s words left me standing frozen in space. I stood there looking deep into those blue eyes of his thinking of something to say, but it was like my head was empty; filled with nothing but hot air, like an air balloon.

My eyes still locked on Bob’s; out of the corner of my left eye Frank’s lips were moving. I finally snapped out of whatever trance I was in and fell back to reality.

“Gerard, honey you okay?” Obvious concern in Frank’s sweet voice, I smiled at him and moved a strand of hair from over his eyes.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry, I sometimes space out.” I looked back at Bob and cleared my throat. “What did you say, Bob?”

“Michael Way, are the two of you related?” He asked again, and it still shocked me just as much as the first time.

“He’s my brother- was my brother,” I corrected.

“He died?” Frank asked, still by my side.

“Yes, it was in the papers. I remember reading about his death, my condolences to you and your family.” Bob said.

“I was his only family.” I snapped at him not really meaning to, but with our childhood it was all too true.

“Anyway, I apologize. I didn’t mean to tear into old wounds.”

I shook my head and dismissed it; although, these wounds were nowhere near closed. “Don’t worry about, you’re forgiven. Anyway, Frank I brought you lunch.” I held up the Chinese food he asked for when he called me and set it down on the kitchen counter.

“Mm, thank you!” Frank darted for the food and ate happily, shoving spoonfuls of fried rice into his mouth.

“Well I should be leaving I have to get back to work.” I said to them both, but really I jut needed to get the fuck outta here. My brain is just spinning too fast for me to think clearly.

“What?!” Frank exclaimed with his mouth full. “No, stay; just close the store for today.”

“I’ve kept it closed almost all week, I need to open up or the nerds get anxious and may start rioting,” I joked. But Frank pouted and nodded. I kissed his forehead and his cheek then gave him a smile. “I’ll call you later.”

I headed for the door and turned quickly, taking a quick glance at Bob. “It was very nice to have met you.”

“Same here, hope we can do it again.” Bob smile and waved as I left the apartment. I ran straight home thinking of Mikey and the pain. The fire in my veins burns now I need another injection after that I’ll feel nothing at all.

“He was acting really odd. He’s never usually like that when he’s with me.” Frank said to Bob after stuffing more rice into his mouth.

Bob stayed quiet for a few minutes thinking to himself before speaking. “How well do you know Gerard, Frankie?”

“Probably a lot better than anyone else, I would think.”

“What do you mean?”

“As you like to say he’s special like me.” Frank smiled cutely.

“Please forgive me this, but you have to stop seeing him.”

“What? Why?”

“Because I’m telling you to. You’re going to stop seeing him and you’re moving again, far away from here.”

“No! You can’t make me go anywhere! Gerard’s my boyfriend.”

“Boyfriends come and go; I’m doing this to protect you.”

“Protect me?! No you’re keeping me prisoner. I’m not leaving my boyfriend. I’m not leaving Jersey. I like it here and I love him.”

“…You slept with him?”

“Don’t tell me you’re jealous?”

“That’s why you grew the wings. After you had sex the wings sprouted, didn’t they?”

“Yes…what does that have to do with anything?”

“In an act of passion, a siren could be granted a wing…But no other siren possesses wings, love’s forbidden.”

“So what I love him. But you can’t do this to me again, please. I want to stay with him.”

“You can’t!”

“Why?” Tears were streaming on Frank’s cheeks, and dropping into his food.

“…Because Michael isn’t dead.”

Suddenly the room got really warm, felt as if they were inside an oven and the heat were slowly increasing. The paint was peeling off the walls; Frank threw his spoon when it burnt his hand. There was a loud crash at the front door; the whole thing was thrown off the hinged and across the room.

Mikey came into the room, Quinn right behind him with an evil grin painted on his face. Mikey pointed his gun at Bob and fired a shot into his chest. Frank screamed when Bob fell to the ground. He went to his side and placed a hand over the shotgun.

“Bob!” Frank screamed.

“You must be Prince Frank, it’s an honor.” Quinn said to him.

“You killed him!” Frank sobbed.

Mikey took out a tranquilizer gun and pointed it at Frank. Frank quickly tried to sing a song to stop them, hoping the power of his voice would do the trick. But he was too late, Mikey shot him arm with the gun and Frank passed out quickly.
