where in the world can i begin? first, i just want to say A+ job to EVERYONE who was FABULOUS, especially THE AMAZING SARAH RIVIN WHO DID THE MOST AMAZING JOB THIS WEEKEND... seriously, sar, you are fabulous and i am RIDICULOUSLY proud of you. im proud of ALLL OF US this news coverage is RIDICULOUS> i have never been so juiced ever ever ever ever ever before.
so, let's do a day-by-day summary of the weekend, just so i don't forget anything important when im trying to remember this weekend years and years from now :) (because THAT is how cool it was!)
friday: pre-con. so, i get up at around 10, go take a math test + give shilps her bday balloons, go shopping with the madre for a purse, a cute express blazer, and shoes. (remind me NEVER EVER EVER buy shoes the day before a convention... more on that later). then, i went to bball practice, and headed off to the santa clara marriot for PRE-CON, which was TRE FUN! i got there around 5, and reunited with prospector/the tank... i had missed it, even though i had been there for cab con just a few months previously. i went to my room, changed into my comfy clothes (seriously, those sweats SAVED MY LIFE) and then headed back down, where i started putting stickers on summer school packets and found my truest loves, EM to the RU, Sar to the RIVIN, and Michael Hemminger (who was really nice and did a FABULOUS job), my lover anne-marie, the fabuloso adam cox, and paula dearest (sarah to the stoller and tara to the chandra arrived as the stickers were being placed on the brochures, and i was glad, for then our POSSE was completed). mr. h. arrived to work out reg stuff, and that took EASILY twoish hours and then we had dinner. sarah stoller and i ate in teh corner :) and sarah rivin didnt get food :( but it was still an all around good time. then we had our LOOONNNG pre con meeting and we weren't even ready to head to our rooms until 12:30... and once we got to our room (i roomed with tonia and tara) we chillaxed for a bit, i wrote my opening speech, and then EMILY RUSCA told me that i got to introduce SNOOP DOGGY DOGG, which was the highlight of my weekend, if not my life. i got to sleep around 2:30ish after taking a shower at night like my mommy told me so my hair wouldn't look as shitty.
saturday: got up around 7:00ish, tried to make myself look cute (and failed, instead looked like an air hostess, but hey, whateves). put on my RIDICULOUSLY CUTE SHOES that, by the end of the day, I HATED because my feet have become BLACK AND BLUE i KID YOU NOT!!! (all the mexican ppl are going to think im ridiculous). i tried to make my hair look cute with my mommys straightener, and then we were all set and ready to head down (as usual, tars was the SLOWEST PERSON EVER). we started doing our morning duties (let me say right now, that i LOVE the reg desk and ED BANAYAT OMG OMG OMG!!!!). time FLEW and soon it was time for opening session - emrus speech was ADORABLE, and EL BEISER DIDN'T SAY MISNOMBER, which must be a first in JSA history. looking out at the crowd of ppl in the audience, i was sooooo excited and sooooo proud of us. i have to admit, there were times when i was losing faith in us and our ability to reach our goals, but we reached + surpassed them, and i am soooo impressed! after opening, we moved into the first block, which was the moderator training ws for me, which honestly was the most BORING THING EVER and ADA BLAMED me for taking over when she had NO IDEA what to do... sigh. MUCHO ANNOYING, yo. block 2 was spent in the tank, in a frenzy, trying to find snoop doggs real name for my intro, only to learn later that "snoop is my real name (*wink)" according to the rusca. so i gave up on that one and wrote my intro without it. then it was keynote time. seriously, this was CHA to the OTIC - with sarah/emru "escorting" (doesnt that SOUND dirty) snoopizzle, and david out and about, we were literally running all over the hotel trying to get everyone assembled and keep them quiet. it was fun, though. the press started filing in as well, and we had some PRETTY TIGHT coverage. YAYYYY JSA!!! the whole snoop dogg incident was SURREAL... with all his escorts, his malodorous smoke, and his cogent speech, i have to admit that he was DEFINITELY unpredicatable. but he was really nice as well - he thanked me for introducing him, and he gave me a hug, and even smiled, which was really cute. im sad we made him leave earlier than he had to :( but im glad he came and spoke to us, even if it was for a short while, because he really charged everyone up. barbara becnel was a GREAT speaker, and tookie was so sincere and so sweet that i got goosebumps realizing that, without a miracle, he's not going to be around in three weeks. it made everything i was worrying about (ie, my sat scores, which come out tommorrow), seem soooo insignificant, and i was just blown away. after our keynoters, i tried to check out some harker debaters (i caught the tail-end of amits, and a large part of srirams... they were both good, but FRESHMEN from our chapter need to NEVER speak again. im not even kidding... one of them (the one i reallllllly dont like)said something ridiculous about killing her father, and another one asked about fourty year old virgin? i dont even understand why ppl who are soooooo uninformed would decide to speak, but they did. and we WONDER why ppl criticize debate quality)... oh well, my beloved danyal did an A+ job moderating (well, almost... he shouldn't have called on the freshmen and he announced the wrong result for the debate, but other than that he was quite fabulous. the political FAIRE WAS THE PLACE TO BEEEE im sooo proud of tars + meers :). i think after this we had dinner? i dont remember! ahh im forgetting already. anyways, i took time out to have dinner with the harker crew, but i ran into a problem when they wanted to go to in-n-out and i could barely walk two steps. so, i went to su-ping with the sophomores, which was an EXPERIENCE to say the least... i got back and helped ed with reg stuff for a bit, and then went off to monitor the luggage room. i was in there for like TWO HOURS and i kept hushing everyone and being all "there's a wedding.... shhh" i think ppl thought i was some crazy controlling bitch :(... oh well, i think it went okay, even though that one guy was pretty pissed that kids were walking in front of the wedding. it was HECKAAA a desi shaadi, and one of the little kids was wearing this really cute salwar and i talked to her and when i left she said "bye bye natasha"... it made me happy! then greg came and made fun of me for calling my parents and changing for the dance in the luggage room, but it is SOOOO not my fault that i had noooo time to go to my room. its the crazy convention-ness. i got dressed for the dance and then someone was all "natasha, stop ppl from going this way because of the wedding"... so i stood there in my short skirt for like 1/2 an hour, and i was walking back and forth and one of the guys there OBVIOUSLY thought i was trying to get his attention and started trying to talk to me, and he was one of those motorcycle tattoo guys, and i was sooo embarassed cause i swear he thought i was trying to get his attention in my whore clothes, so i put on my sweatshirt, even though i looked ridiculous. i headed to the dance around 9:30-10ish, and had fun with pauline, and ALOKKKKKK MY SUMMER SCHOOL LOVER OMG OMG OMG I LOVE YOU>>> SALAAAMMM NAMASTE... haha okay i know im crazy but i meet VERY FEW boys who like bollywood, so when i do i get excited. i saw roshni/shilpu too, and anji and karena and i danced for a while. i only danced with my female lovers, but that way okay... i didnt want to set a bad example, and i wasnt interested anyways... but things for other ppl got kinda crazy at the dance (which is going to be a cause of QUITE A FEW PROBLEMS for harker) but overall it was crazy mad good fun.... im kinda dissapointed in my chapter. i know i SHOULDNT be, and everyone keeps on being all "IT'S NO BIG DEAL you drama queen" and although i admit im a drama queen, it is a big deal, and im really upset that ppl dont respect how hard we work more than that. but, in the words of el rivin, "whateva, whateva :)" i had a good time with my friends, and we "partied it up, gangsta style," right emru?. after the dance, i moved all my luggage to the reg desk and we started room checks. ahhhhh what an INTERESTING experience. i went with my darling sarah rivin, and i shall never forget the pillow fight, the 9th floor bust/GROSSS elevator, and of course the loud harker crew being all "show me, show me" in a high voice ahah. i got to bed at THREE (i got in my room at 1:30, we talked about our chapter for about an hour, and then i took a shower so my hair wouldn't be shit the next morning, even though it sooo was). OMG i almost forgot - the kids that came from teh rally were from salesian, richmond, and deer valley, meaning i have new A+ contacts :). and the salesian boy was ADORABLE... his younger brother who was in 7th grade reminded me of the kid from raven, and he was all "natasha, can i have your number" and i was like "um.... im not much for younger men" and then i was getting his older brother's (who is SIXTEEN, which is PERFECT and he looks like justin guarini and hes really shy and quite cute :) ) contact information and the younger one was all "oh, i see how it is, you want his number but not mine"... it was really cute and we just talked for a few minutes and i had a really good time. and then after i promised them food from davids sweet, the pop n politics ppl came to talk to me, and the indian guy doing the interview was helllla FOB funny :)... anyways...
Sunday: i got up at 7, and the dark circles under my eyes were so big that i SWEAR i looked like a raccoon. went to prospector, got some breakfast, and then almost got eaten by the harker crew for canceling the krispy kreme (HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT HUDKINS TOLD PPL?). oh well, the cookies from the suite were good as well.... i <3 peanut butter cookies. i hung out in there for awhile cause david told me too, then i went to prospector/luggage duty, at which point my painful shoes made my feet THROBBBBB i tell you! i moderated the speed chess debate (woowwww those speakers were not the greatest ever :( ) and then i sold TWENTY SUMMER SCHOOL TICKETS in like TEN minutes.... summer school stud, i KNOW! before brunch we had the second round of keynotes, who were interesting but just not as sympathetic. i thought that deborah saunders seemed rather condescending, but we had tons of press today as well, which is REALLLY good new for us. (CHECK OUT THE NEWS TONIGHT AT 10/11!!!) brunch was fun... the south carolina story makes me cry EVERY TIME... i vote we make a movie. then i started bracing myself for party elections, and sheer and utter MADNESS ensued. i pretended my heels were tennis shoes, and ran from place to place, SCREAMING things at ppl... the radical caucus was HUGE and ppl were pouring out the door and i had to shout LOUDLY to be heard, and everyone was all "all right, we hear you..." i felt really stupid. :(. oh, and DERRIC BROC is the moderate party secretary. oh joy. but alok is radical, and even though he was running against my chapter homies, its OKAY that he won, because now ill get to see him before wc, and i dont know about the liberal kids (except that one, according to adam cox, is a HUGE flake) but i know flip clark will be good. EVERY SINGLE PARTY PERSON THIS YEAR IS MALE.... its going to be quite a testosterone partay. closing session started, and ended, really quickly. everyone spoke well, im JUICED for WC cause HELLLA ppl came up and gave me contact info, and i already got a few emails, so im really excited.
but part of me knows that no matter what other jsa events we have, nothing will be cooler than this weekend? well, i guess i shouldnt say that, i said the same thing after adonal last year... jsa just keeps getting cooler! im sick now though... my throat is killing me and we leave for mexico tommorrow morning, which makes me sad, becuase i really want to have fun on this trip! its my VACATION (im not going anywhere during winter because we have finals the week after school starts :/) oh well, its okay... this weekend was so fun, that being a little sick is worth it. i also have no voice, but hopefully by tommorrow my voice will do that hot hoarse thing. i doubt it though... ill probly just sound like a man :(. OOOOHHHH i almost forgot I WAS ON TV... channel 11 last night showed the segment of me introducing snoop - i really DO look like a flight attendant!
im missing my KAVEEVS right about now. like seriously my love, i could use you. im soooo confused about what to do. i DIDNT take your advice (but i had a REALLLY good reason!)... and now im completely PERPLEXED. sigh. i do NOT <3 boys (except for kobe, who i love with all my heart :))
well anyways you guys, i just wanted to say A+ job for EVERYTHING this weekend. everyone did an AMAZING job and this was a great two days for us... now its time for me to go watch salaam namaste again while all my friends get to watch harry potter, but i am not allowed to go because i am sick. oh well...
<3 jsa + you for ever and ever,
natash
