Nerdery: What's your favorite comic book story arc?
This is a hard one for me because there are a lot of great story arcs out there, but there is a distinct value to it being one that you have actually fully experienced. Which is to say that there a lot of comic story arcs that I have read about like on the internet or what have you, but only so many where I have read actual comics themselves. I think I have to lean toward that value in making my decision and as such I coose "Grand Theft America" from Ultimates 2, by Mark Millar (art by Hitch, Neary, and Martin). It's certainly not the best story arc out there, but its one that I really liked and actually read (and own) fully. To be fair I also actually read Watchmen and its probably better than Grand Theft America, but it feels like a cop-out to choose that as my favorite, and there is a value to that in the decision process as well.
PseudoPhilosophical: If you were offered the ability to eliminate one person from human history - as in, you decide and they're gone as if they'd never been born, with all of the attending unpredictable consequences that that would imply - would you choose anyone? Explain your decision making process.
I think, as boring as it sounds I would probably not choose to eliminate anybody for 2 related reasons. Because the unpredictable consequences apply, if I was going to eliminate someone it would have to be very recently so I could try to maximize the predictableness of my decision's outcome, and there aren't a lot of real earthshaking choices within recent years except George Bush. While I'm tempted to choose him, I think ultimately I would choose not to for the second basically related reason, which is that I tend to favor the idea of letting certain things play out. I am kind of an isolationist in that respect. Like I couldn't say that I don't favor something like stepping in to help curb all the genocide/etc. going on in Africa, but I think that when things are less evil then that situation, there is a value to letting things play out because sometimes bad things have to happen for good things to come out of it, like the French revolution. For Star Trek fans, think Prime Directive. Also going back to George Bush (and this is where it relates to my first reason) while his presidency was bad, I am a big supporter of Barack Obama. While he is by no means president yet, I think that it is possible that if we did not go through 2 terms of Bush presidency, we might not now have even a chance of Barack presidency. And who knows, maybe he'll be a shitty president (if he's elected), but, yeah, its just too hard to say what the net result of things can be. And you can't let that hold you back from acting in current moment, but when it comes to altering the past or even overextending yourself in the present, its important to consider.
Artistic: What are your stuck-on-a-desert-island top 5 must-have musical tracks?
I don't currently listen to much music so its hard to say and whatever I pick could change at any given moment but, at least one would probably be "Into the West" by Annie Lenox (the LotR song), after that it'd probably a couple linkin park songs that strike my fancy at the moment (one of those currently is the mash-up of "numb" and Jay-Z's "encore" from the "miami vice" movie tv-trailer), the last 2 would be techno, but I can't ever remember the names of any techno songs. I could better answer this question if I spent the next week listen to all the music I have, but as I said I don't listen to much music lately so, I kinda don't feel like spending my next week doing that.
Professional: What would your dream job be?
To be a conceptual artist for either video game company or movie production company (like WETA). But only because I can only see myself directing porn movies for like a max of 4 years, and I want my dream job to be a career -- jk :).
