Six months

It's been pretty much six months since I went on hiatus and consequently, has been about six months since I posted here. So where does that leave me? In the, uh, 'very very bad' pile, I think. At a guess, I've put down 10,000 words into part two, which isn't too bad, but certainly isn't anywhere near what I wanted to have by this time. Really, by this time I wanted to have it finished and posted. Ah, optimism.

So what's happened? For one, I completely reworked the plan I had for the second part in general, and the ending for the fic in particular. I'm still not entirely happy with it, but it's in a better place than it was before. The original ending I had was pretty weak, not really fitting for what the ending of a 100,000+ word fic (as it will inevitably end up being) should be. The new ending, while not quite there yet, at least promises more exitement and intrigue, and that's given me at least some more interest in working on it.

My original plan for having a re-edit of part 1 has been shelved. I still plan to go through and do some more editing, but not as comprehensively as I had previously thought. Mainly because I want to start posting part 2 as soon as I can and going back to edit would take up too much of that time. Trying to keep up with an update schedule was hectic, but it also meant that I got so much more done. It's also a good motivator.

Speaking of motivation, since I stopped writing I also stopped reading, which isn't great. I don't think I've read a single FF7 fic since then, though I have browsed a few from Dragon Age. I find it hard to read while I currently having something I'm writing, yet reading really helps with my writing. It's annoying, brain. Work something out.

As for now, it's back to writing for me. Wine and the Crisis Core soundtrack demand it.
