merlin 4x2

jesus christ, what a frustrating episode.
the good: the show as a whole looks, aesthetically, fucking incredible. the cinematography and scenery is gorgeous. it looks more like a high budget film than a corny tv show, as it should. also, agravain being a creeper makes me happy. apart from being too obvious and cliche-villain looking, he's pretty good at it. and when he was talking with gwen i was like "run, girl, u gon git raped!" if only this wasn't a "family" show...

the bad: fucking everything else. start with the minor irritants: why does morgana wear so much friggin make-up? where would she even get glittery green eyeshadow living in shrek's house? and why does merlin not get armor when going on a dangerous mission with the knights, who are all wearing full on chain maille and armor? if they need it then so does he!
and here's a stupid detail - it was supposed to be so horrible that agravain was locking the gate, but why would the peasants even be clamoring to get into the palace when the doraka can go through walls? people are just as susceptible inside as outside! so who cares if they were being locked out or not, letting them in wouldn't save them! sheesh!
and am i the only one who laughs out loud whenever merlin does his magic thing? it's getting cornier every season. the old welsh language sounds ridiculous enough, but it doesn't help that he uses a stupid bat man voice when saying it. ha!

the ugly: i should not even need to cut for spoilers because this show thinks foreshadowing means fore-spelling-it-the-fuck-out-in-neon-letters, but i don't want to ruin it for anyone who is new to merlin.
so they kept going ahead with the WORST PLAN EVER, pausing only to point cartoon arrows at lancelot's head that say "this dude's gonna die!" what the fuck? he's a main fucking character in the legend that we haven't even gotten to yet! isn't this whole series supposed to be what leads up to the start of the legend? we haven't even gotten up to where arthur is king yet, how is lancelot going to be in the story if he died before it takes place? that's... just.... gah! it wasn't even sad, just maddening. especially since the dragon basically gave them a way out of the sacrifice when he said that the spirits demand nothing, it's only the kalix (?) that wants to take a life. so merlin just had to vanquish her and then heal the rift or whatever. he could do it, he's the most powerful sorcerer ever, is he not? gah, what a frustrating crock of shit.
oh, and also, they forgot to mention what happened to leon, percival, and elyan when all this was going down. all 6 men walked into the room, gwain got knocked out, then arthur steps forward and merlin pulls him back and faces off with the kalix, then lancelot steps thru the rift, it and the kalix disappear leaving merlin standing there alone.... but he wasn't alone five minutes ago! did they just decide to take a break? arrrrg, stupid fucking show, you think we the audience won't notice that shit? you insult me.

the light at the end of the fuckery, tho, is the preview for next week - arthur tied to a spinning roulette wheel with an apple in his mouth like a roast pig?! *huuuuuuuuBDSMuuunnnnnnnnnnnggggh* i almost came. show, u know me and my kinks too well. ;)

tv shows, merlin
