Ah, where have I been? Piddling around as usual. Got some great goodies I bought for myself in the mail, including my new fav pair of shows EVER from
Dollhouse and if you follow the link, the shoes are on clearance and you can def find extra coupon codes to make em cheaper like I did! Anyhow, they're SO CUTE and look great with everything! Also, they're extremely comfy, which is fantastic. Totally my new concert shoes since I can get down and dance without wanting to saw off my feet at the end of the night due to pain.
Left, my new shoes and my haul from Wal-Mart. Okay, I never ever would think I'd be one to buy clothes at Wal-Mart, but... straight talk they had some CUTE SHIT. I mean, look at this ADORABLE shirt I found there for SIX EFFING DOLLERS!! It has really cute puffed, ruched sleeves as well. Amazing. Also, really cute V-neck tanks, couldn't say no to them for $4 each. Yeah, dig on that gnarly neon floral tank. I know you like it. Also that spiked necklace is from Wal-Mart; I had the matching bracelet forever and always regretted not buying the necklace, but lo and behold, I guess it was just my day. Anyhow, moving on- got a wonderful package in the mail... my GAGA II LIPSTICK!
I didn't alter the photos displaying the color so you guys can see what it looks like. The shade is BEAUTIFUL; nude is a weird, hard color to wear but this one seems like a good shade; some nudes are too chalky, some too tan/dark... strange, but I think I am loving it. I went ahead and sprung for the gloss since every review was saying it looked great over pinks. Every time I tried to go to the MAC store to pick up the first Gaga lipstick, they were sold out and finally stopped selling it online. I thought all was lost... until the smart and beautiful and KIND AS HELL Annie gave me one of her 3 tubes!! OMG, thank you universe... Sorry my pink tube is all gross and used in the photo! I have so many friends who just DESPISE her, and I used to so so much too, but I'm not that girl that interrupts to tell you why she rules my world. Can't explain it, I think she is so human and endearing when she just talks, like on Good Morning America or Jay Leno recently... to each their own, yes? I can promise you, though, I don't ever refer to her as "Mother Monster". No thanks.
Photo on left, you can see me sporting the new nude stick and gloss! I think since it's a neutral color, you have to be wearing eyeliner or else you're gonna look weird and corpse-y, but I can, and usually am, wrong. In recent news, I went RED RED RED and I LOVE IT. It took so long to grow out my hair, which, if I do say so myself, is REALLY GORGEOUS naturally, and so I got to be such a pussy about it and wouldn't cut it or change it in any way because some people told me it was "just a shame" and... probably the biggest reason... I figured my mom would be FURIOUS, and I'm talking about that scary Vietnamese lady fury. Anyhow, I did it and I LOVE it and now am looking forward ot the opportunity of cycling through various red shades I've always wanted. My friend Jess hooked it up and did a bomb ass color job for me. It is awesome to have friends who work in salons!
While we're on that tangent, I went out to lunch with my Mom today and she didn't say a word about my hair until after lunch, she asks if I like it, I tell her absolutely. Then she follows up with, "Have you ever thought about doing hair" and I have ABSOLUTELY entertained the thought of schoolin' and going into the beauty field, but have always pushed the thought aside specifically because I felt embarrassed at the idea of mentioning it to my parents, thinking they'd look down on the occupation. I told her, yeah, I have, and my mom went on to mention how she thought I'd be really good in the field since I'm "artistic" and she sees hair as a creative extension, which she's right, it is. Then she turns to me and says, :Did I ever tell you my dream was to do hair?". Uh... NO YOU NEVER TELL ME ANYTHING MOM!! I was blown away, I had no idea!! Anyhow, it was really exciting and relieving to know she wouldn't be disappointed in me if I wanted to go that route, and I'm really considering it since I have wanted to give it a go in the past. I feel like I'm drifting in life and go from project to project without specifically knowing what I want to do, but I can absolutely see myself working in the cosmetology field. I'd want to be a BAD ASS hair cutter and even badder colorist.
Also, aside from working in a salon, the world of production is always hiring make up artists and hair stylists for any and every kind of shoot, and their daily rate is higher than my rate as a PA (naturally) so I could essentially learn and study and apply it to the production world. There seems to me a lot of opportunities for MUA and stylists in the world, from photographers, production, editorial, shows, whatever!! I will prob start next week doing some research about schools in my area... I like the idea because it's another field where you make you own hours, so it'd compliment my sporadic PA and Boshi-Basiik schedule perfectly. Anyhow, don't be surprised if future posts mention beauty school, HAHA! Just nice to get approval from my intense Asian parents, you know? The prospect of my life and career taking shape is also awesome.
Another opportunity that I was interested in pursuing was tattooing, another field that's relatively creative that I think I could take to really well. I already told my best friend who has been tattooing that I'd finally nut up and come in and learn it, since I have a lot of spare time (not that I want it, I swear) so I figured why not learn another skill? Now I have to think about what I'd rather pursue, but if I could, I'd love to learn both... maybe a lot for my plate, we will see. I know that I really want to be a BAD ASS scripter; tattoo scripting is so beautiful to me (the classy, flourished scripting, like in the left photo, not the hood ass shit like "Dallas" on the right, haha), and I've always been interested in learning how to be really great at it, so when I tagged along with my friend to a local tattoo supply store, I cave and bought the most AMAZING flash book of a local artist's script, his specialty, so I'm going to study it and learn. If I don't learn tattooing, I want to at least learn to be fantastic at the scripting craft so I can be a resource for my friend if any of her clients are looking for custom script. 2011 is going down hard!!!
Also, lately I've been making jewelry for Boshi-Basiik, just to have new, different product, and it's fun for me to make. I love these seahorse charms a ton, made the cutest earrings and phone charms with them. I am really excited about our custom cut acrylic shapes we will be using for jewelry... it's gonna be awesome, ya'll, I just hope people like our designs!! Oh, and I also treated myself to a new Purse. It's an awesome black, slightly metallic faux snake skin bag, not too big, not too small. Top handles fold over and you slip that middle strap on your shoulder. Super cute. Great gunmetal pyramid stud hardware, feels really sturdy. BCBG, picked up on
6pm.com for $42!! I couldn't say no, and I've been lusting after a great black bag. Anyhow, I'm going to leave you guys with a pic of my small garden project happening on my stairs... and congrats to the winner of my prize drawing,
FABFLYINGFOX! I will have another drawing for goodies on Monday, so stay tuned ya'll! Have a great weekend everyone!
