Maybelline Madness

Gonna put it out there: I've been LOVING Maybelline's line of Colorsational Lipsticks. They are rich, creamy, great pigment... they feel SO good. However they are a little glossy, so vivid colors like red are in danger of smearing really easily. You absolutely need to wear them on top of lip liner, but I'm pretty sure they're my favorite drug store lipsticks available to date!!

I started with "Pink Peony", which is really pretty but has hints of coral, which I ended up feeling don't work well on me. Sometimes I'll use it based on my outfit, but rarely anymore. However, I liked the feel of the lipstick so much I went out on a limb and bought "Make Me Pink". I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with the color, a beautiful cool pink, almost has some purple tones I think. Anyhow, I have been using this color as my daily color and will have to pick up a new one soon... Yeah, makes me THAT happy.

Left is "Pink Peony", middle is "Red Revival", right is "Make me Pink". The red shade is a beautiful, rich, luxurious red color, not too bright or clownish but still very bold. Like I stated thought, you need a good primer because, I don't know if it's the color used to make the red, it seems glossier in feel than the pinks. Can't win em all, every now and then I'll feel brave enough to sport it, but ...I have more problems mustering enough courage to wear red lipstick in public than I am smearing it on my face! I really admire girls who rock it!

Okay, so I loved "Make Me Pink" so much I picked up "Snob" at MAC. This is my first MAC lipstick. It feels amazing, yes, so amazing and creamy and awesome. However, even though it's like, almost the exact same color, "Snob" has ZERO transparency. I mean the color is SO opaque I feel like a clown wearing it. I ended up going right back to my Maybelline version, which is slightly sheer so it looks a little more natural, less like literal paint on my face. Don't get me wrong, opacity is a GREAT quality in some cases, some colors, but "Snob" just ended up not workin' out for me too well.

Top is "Snob", then "Make Me Pink" then "Red Revival", and last is "Pink Peony"- see hoe much more opaque "Snob" is compared to "Make Me Pink"?? Its a little brighter in color, too, by a hair. (Now I have this MAC lipstick I've used twice and I don't want it, but can't sell it... I know it sounds kind of icky... but if anyone out there in Livejournal land wants it and wants to disinfect / cut off the barely used end, hit me up and it's all yours. Hey man, you don't think it's THAT gross when you're int he MAC store trying ON shades of lipstick, eh? EHH??) I haven't even had it for a month, it's brand new. Sad, I know. I liked it so much better when I was in the store. Well, I saw some gorgeous party shades of the Colorsational lipsticks floating around, including the most vibrant fuchsia ever. The hunt is on!
