You know, I loved your post, minus one small detail. I realize my complaint is petty, but generalizing still rather annoys me. I'm in a band, I love many different types of music, I know my band isn't the best ever, we just try to play to our fullest potential and have the most fun doing it. My music career may die after high school, it may not, personally I think it is all up to yourself on if that will be the case. It's hard not to be an asshole sometimes but I think I keep a kind attitude when dealing with other bands as well

dear jared, first i would like to thank you for replying with such politeness and courtesy. something that isn't seen alot around here. your post is fair, but i must have my rebuttle.
"We're not all the egocentric kids." of course not Jared. who in their right mind would want to be egocentric? no one! people wont admit to being egocentric, they are just kind of clueless. im not in the business of making gross generalizations either, but i can only go by what i've witnessed. that being terrible high school bands acting like fuck bitch assholes.
next, "I think you're missing at least a small minority that doesn't (to take your words and simplify them) suck." in my opinion, you dont have to have an ego to suck. some of the nicest guys i know suck, and suck bad. but its cool. you seem like a nice guy, and people like you dont bother me jared. its the people who talk shit about other bands; thats the war my friend, the darkside, babylon.
i think some of your generalizing is a tad off. granted, yes the whole emo/scream/anything "core" seems to be the big hit in town and every band wants to pick it up and what not...but we try not to be like any other band. we sure don't sound like any other band at the moment. sure, the guys in the band listen to alkaline trio, but we listen to much more then that

whoa now, i never said anything about bands being un-original. (thats another community in its own) i just nodded that you can obviously tell most of these "kids" dont have the widest range of musical variety....at all.
now im not saying everything on mtv sucks or that its cool to like obscure bands that no ones heard of.....but man, i cant rock the hoobastank or "untill the day i die." i tryed, i just does nothing for me. i could ram you a new asshole for saying bjork is over-rated. she has the most amazing voice in the world.

sorry, i don't like bjork. call me nuts, but it doesn't really grab my attention that much.
what i was saying was, some of these bands taste in music vary beyond that of what you expect.
