a while back I made a post about the concept of life as a "cool contest" and how stupid the whole thing is... and the person I was referring to in the post made a post to their journal (cause thats how these things seem to work), with a picture of the record player I was going to buy from her (she already had one) with a red vinyl White Stripes album on it, and the phrase "Fuck living for yourself. Life is a cool contest, and I win"... and honestly, looking at that, I didnt know whether to laugh or cry... being cool is a fairly simple formula if all you care about is being cool... youre cool... but youre also better than that

i think anyone who uses a formula to get to cool is miles and lifetimes away from it. like taking a picture of a record player with a lame ass piece of vinyl on top and saying "i win". haha. so far off. the only person in the history of the world who could claim cool and get away with it was miles davis (hence his album, birth of the cool). but thats because he was the king of bop and could say those sorts of things.

ah...yungins these days...so clueless.

did you buy the record player off her? if you did, you should have told her you were only getting it so you could spin all your old tesla and white snake vinyls in proper fashion.

wanna hear something funny? i dont even own a record player. how cool is that? heh.

yea. heroin and those giant sunglasses really started to take their tolls on the poor guy. but he was still the king in his former days.

hehe... nope I never did buy it... she turned into a raving psycho before I had the chance... Im sure Ill get on eventually but its hardly pressing... and frankly Im glad I didnt buy it, because if I had to hear her speech about how "Fell in Love With a Girl" is only good on vinyl one more time I was going to vomit up an essential organ or two... not owning a record player is pretty hip indeed, although you are missing out on the greatness of Quiet Riot in their original medium... bahaha... I dont own a mp3 player, though that ma have more to do with poverty than coolness
