Library fines. Anyone know about 'em? I racked up a several hundred dollar fine 2 years ago at the Faulkner County Library. It sounds unbelievable but it's true. I can't pay it back and am sad because I feel like I'm barred from the library. Is there any kind of fine-forgiveness after a set time? I want to get some books but don't have money ( Read more... )

how does one rack up a several hundred dollar fee from overdue books? i planned to calculate this last night (assuming that you are charged about ten cents per day per book) but forgot to. i'll get back to you on this...

I checked out several books and did not return them (lost them somewhere). The Faulkner County Library has an amazing CD collection and at that time there was no limit on the number of CDs you could check out at once. I took full advantage and checked out probably 20 CDs at once. After the two week period, fines start, for CDs, it's $1/day. It didn't take long to get in the hundreds range for the fine. I finally found most of the books and returned all but one. I turned in the CDs after realizing that I had them for so long. But I think I'm still screwed. I guess I can't be trusted.

During that time that I had all of those CDs, they changed the rules and limited the number that can be checked out at once. Ha. Sorry Conway, that's probably my fault.
