Can I say again how much I haaaaaaate Fox's deathgrip on Saturday afternoon baseball? Tim McCarver is just. so. awful. During today's Sox-Yanks game, he said:

"I don't think there's anyone more popular than Trot Nixon in Red Sox Nation."

Yeah, Bostonians just can't stand that Big Papi guy. And Papelbon? Please. Schilling -- yuck! And they sure do loathe Manny! Moron.

"That was a good splitter from Beckett."

Except for how he doesn't throw a splitter.

"[Relief pitcher] Bruney could be the Yankees' Bobby Jenks. He even looks like him."

Yes, that's the key to projecting the success or failure of a relief pitcher -- does he resemble any other pitchers?

"The Red Sox really miss Alex Gonzalez, who's on the DL."

Uh, no, he's not. He's been off the DL for weeks now.

And don't get me started on the relentless JETER IS TEH AWESOME! chatter, and innings and innings and innings worth of blathering about how the Sox just fell out of contention and played badly -- WITHOUT MENTIONING INJURIES! WTF? Off the top of my head:

Schilling -- two starts, late August
Wakefield -- six weeks, July - Sept.
Clement -- half the season, July - offseason
Wells -- half the season, came back early August
Lester -- lymphoma, last start mid-August
Papelbon -- shut down Sept 1, shoulder injury

Coco -- missing games still with his finger injury (six weeks early on)
Loretta -- quad injury, missed a few games in August
Papi -- heart trouble, missed 10 days in August
Manny -- knee, missed ~15 games in August and Sept.
Trot -- bicep strain, missed August
Tek -- knee surgery, missed August
Wily Mo -- wrist surgery, wrist soreness, missed end of August
Gonzalez -- oblique, missed 15 days, Aug. - Sept.

In August, Youkilis, Cora, Beckett, and Tavarez were healthy. Maybe Timlin -- was he off the DL by then? In August, the Pawtucket/Boston Red Sox hybrid went something like 10-21. Awesome.

Whatever. Fox sucks. And I really, really, really, really want the Sox to win this series, preferably with a sweep. :)

Couple other notes from watching today's game while packing:
1. Robinson Cano has Justin Timberlake as his at-bat music. No, really.
2. David Ortiz got booed. Well, no shit, he's gotten booed vociferously since the 2004 postseason. He also went 2-2 with two doubles and three walks today. F the haters.

fox blows, go sox, yankees suck
