“This is screwed up.” said Ryan. “He hates me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Matt replied.
It was only the lie Becker hated, that the two people he was closest to hadn’t told him the truth. Ryan was feeling what Matt had already been through. The guilt was unbearable.
Matt wished he had been honest with Becker and that he hadn’t left Tom all those years ago, without saying something.
Tom had moved on after Matt left, but did he forgive him for leaving? He had never asked.
“Did you hate me for what I did?”
"No. I could never hate you."
