“It’s time that you left.”
Matt didn’t like that. He agreed with his father on a lot of things, but certainly not about this. Matt wasn’t ready to leave his friends and become a civilian.
“You’ve gained a vast array of skills, Matthew. Being in the service has helped you greatly, but now it’s time to broaden your horizons. I need you back.”
Matt shook his head.
“I’m staying.”
“You’re sufficiently trained, son. You just won’t leave because you’ve become attached to them.”
His dad was right but Matt’s decision drove a wedge between them that would last for years
