Back in the saddle... again!

It's been a rough month -- in terms of writing, that is. I started NaNoWriMo on the wrong foot -- by NOT "meeting my quota" on Day #1, and then, ten days later, I stumbled and fell when I hit an impasse. The good news is that, after ten more days, I am back in the proverbial saddle, ready and raring to make a "come back"... a "come from behind" win!

Before I started today's first writing session, my word count was 20,930 -- far from where it should've have been on Day #21 of NaNoWriMo. So... I did a bit of number crunching in order to determine just how far behind I actually was, AND more importantly, what I had to do in order to pull of that "come from behind" win I mentioned earlier.

As it turned out, I'm pretty much going to have to "double up" on my writing sessions. In other words, I'm going to have to "meet my quota" (of 1,667 words) AND then do it again (writing almost another full day's NaNo quota -- 1,564 words, to be precise). Although that may seem like a lot (it actually IS a lot, don't get me wrong.), I'm confident that I'll be able to pull it off (again) this year, primarily because of the block schedule that I've been gradually implementing as I start transitioning from full-time teacher to full-time photographer and author.

You see, this block schedule of mine is comprised of at least four different blocks, which should make it fairly easy to fit in twice as many writing sessions as a typical WriMo needs. This is actually even easier because I'm now officially off work for my Thanksgiving Break. So... Rather than visiting with family this year (since nobody, including me, felt like traveling), I'm going to spend my Thanksgiving Break "acting as if" I'm already a full-time photographer AND author!

So, yeah, I am back in the saddle and ready to WIN NaNoWriMo yet again -- with a complete manuscript, hopefully!
