Greeters can be found at the entrance to electronics strores, grocery stores, department stores, etc. But what added value are they providing? I have found that they often impede pedestrian traffic entering the store. Many times I have had to walk all the way around them because they were blocking the shopping baskets.
And when I am ready to purchase my items at the register, there are only a few registers with long lines open. I would have prefered a few extra cashiers rather than a greeter or two at each entrance.
