Rabbit Hole Day
With hand upon heart, I hereby swear an oath upon the Crown of His Majesty, that I will never again travel backward in time. I vow, upon sending this correspondence, to immediately destroy the benighted contraption that has done so much damage to Britain and her Empire. Neither will I build another to replace it.
By Science and Steam! What was I thinking?! It is counter to all good sense to remake causation. All I wanted to do was to retake Titan from the rebels and stop Mary from embarking upon that fateful voyage but, through my meddling, we lost all of Mars to the Czar!
Now, in trying again to put things right, I have made it worse a second time. I have erased the entire interplanetary rush from history! The Empire is all but gone! For all I know, Mary was never born! The population of the Earth now numbers some Six Billions so, if Mary even exists now, I may spend the rest of my life searching for her. What have I done?
Perhaps the greatest mystery of my travels is that of the presence of LiveJournal, or some analogue, in every version of history I have wrought. I can only puzzle as to why it survives the shifts, and why I always have an account with them, in the same name, and with the same password. That mystery will never be solved - my journey ends here, on this Earth.
