[ SS ] Chris to Belcoot!

Dec 21, 2008 01:45

Belcoot receives a gift from his Secret Santa, the elegant, but fearsome Lady Chris! What will Chris get for a man she hardly knows?~

Chris wasn't sure where to find Belcoot, but with the blizzard she assumed he would be in the castle. Not wanting to be improper and go to his room, she took a book with her to the atrium and sat in one of the chairs. She placed a neatly wrapped package on the console table next to the Calderon Urn that occupied the space. Every time someone walked up and down the staircase or the elevator gave its little 'ding' she would look up, but he had yet to come by.

Belcoot had been wandering the castle, as he so often did in this weather. He wasn't quite in the mood to face the elements outside, and so today he had set out to explore the castle, venturing into areas he didn't usually visit. Making his way up the staircase, he was more engrossed in his thoughts of where to go next rather than who was around him.

Finally seeing him, Chris called softly in the atrium, "Belcoot?"

He stopped in his tracks, almost at the top of the stairs. Belcoot had to tilt his head a little to track the source of the voice, and it took a moment before he identified the Zexen Knight. "M'lady... Chris?" He ventured a guess, not being quiet good with names.

She smiled at him as she rose to her feet. "Do you have a moment?"

He nodded and smiled back at her, politely making his way over. "Yes, of course. Did you need my assistance with anything?"

"No," she said, sighing to herself. This was incredibly awkward. "I am your...secret santa, I believe they call it at this castle? I have brought you a gift." She gestured to the box on the table wrapped in gold paper with a red bow.

It took a moment for what she said to sink in as Belcoot blinked, mostly taken aback at first, and then suddenly he was really embarrassed. "Ah... You signed up...?" He said a little stupidly, and then added, "Thank you." Hesitantly moving to pick up the box on the table, the small smile remained on his face. "May I open it now?"

She nodded. "Of course."

Belcoot bowed his head politely as he examined the box in his hands. After a few awkward moments, he finally undid the ribbon, carefully peeling back the gold paper as to not tear it.

Smiling, Chris explained the gift as he opened the box to reveal a solid gold bracelet decorated with carvings. Cut for a man's wrist it was elegant and rather expensive looking. "In my country, knights, especially men, wear those for good luck. I hope it brings you the same tidings."

Genuinely overwhelmed, Belcoot had been rendered speechless again in the span of a few minutes. He faintly blushed, mentally fearing that he had no way to repay her gratitude. Instead of voicing those concerns, however, he decided to place the box gently down on the table, lifting the gold bracelet to admire it. "Thank you, Lady Chris. It's... an amazing gift," he finally managed. "This is beyond generous of you."

"I am honored you like it," she said, still smiling. "As I said, I hope it brings you the luck my knights claim it does."

He grinned boyishly as he slipped the bracelet on -- after a bit of squeezing his hand to allow it to slip through, of course -- and bowed his head to her again once satisfied with the fit. "I'm sure it will, m'lady. I'll keep it close at all times."

She nodded and collected the wrapping debris. "I need to feed my horse, but I hope to see you again in the castle."

"Yes, of course." Belcoot moved to assist her, picking up anything she may have missed. "If you need any help with anything, please, just let me know."

"I'll remember that, Belcoot." She turned to head down the stairs. "See you."

He gave a small, awkward wave at her as he left. "Goodbye, Lady Chris."
