V-day log Shoon and Mash.
WHO: Shoon and Mathiu
WHAT: Hervey's blind date thing.
WHERE: The Stables
WHEN: Now?
WHAT: Make a horse feel better.
Shoon: *shows up at the stables and proceeds and takes out the note card that explains what he's supposed to do. On it there's a picture of horse and band aid* Hmmm... I guess I'm supposed to help a horse get better...
Mathiu: *stands in the stables with a bucket, a length of gauze and some herbal paste...upon noticing Shoon, he steps over* Hello.
Shoon: *beams!* Hi! *shows him the card he got* Are you here to help the horses too?
Mathiu: *holds up his bucket* Yes...though it's been awhile since I've vetted a horse. You must be Shoon.
Shoon: *nodnod* Yep that's me!
Mathiu: *offers his hand* Mathiu Silverberg. Shall we find this horse, then.
Shoon: *files away that name so he remembers* Kay. So what do we do then? How will we know how to help him or her?
Mathiu: Let's look in the stalls for a horse that's favoring a leg.
Shoon: OK...I think this guy over here has been. *trots over to one of the stables on the far end* I come down here a lot to talk to them, and he's was walking kinda funny yesterday.
Mathiu: *follows the boy over to the stall* Yes...he certainly seems to be standing funny.
Shoon: *looks at Mathiu* OK, so what do we do next Dr. Silverberg?
Mathiu: *enters the stall and examines the horse's leg* Fortunately it's just a flesh wound. We'll bandage it and he'll be fine.
Shoon: You've got them right? *looks in Mathiu's bucket and pulls out the gauze* How are we going to keep this on him?
Mathiu: We'll put the salve on and then the gauze. *smiles* Have you ever been trained in first aid?
Shoon: *shakes head* They...uh...didn't really care about my education 'cept for my fighting skills.
Mathiu: I see....well, I'll teach you then. First, let's clean the wound. Can you get some water?
Shoon: Sure! Be right back! *puts the gauze back in the bucket and then heads off and come back with another bucket filled with water* Alright, got the water.
Mathiu: *peels off a good length of gauze and dips it in the water* Now we'll first wash this wound. That will help keep it from getting infected.
Shoon: *watches intently* OK.
Mathiu: *takes another length of gauze* Now, dry it. This will let the bandage adhere better.
Shoon: How?
Mathiu: Wet bandages can slip. Also, the salve needs to be applied to a dry area.
Shoon: *scrunches up his eyes* I think I remember them doing that to me when I had big cuts back in the arena.
Mathiu: *raises a brow* The arena?
Shoon: *matter-of-factly* I was a gladiator in Falena.
Mathiu: *looks at the boy* Forgive me. You seem so young.
Shoon: *shrug* There were younger. There was boy named Morgan who had his eyes cut out 'cause he was too good. He was one of my best friends and then he sold him to some foreign country. *smiles* But that's ok. I've met him again! He's at Qlon, and he's so old now, but he's happy.
Mathiu: *at a loss for words, he keeps drying the leg of the horse* I knew Morgan.
Shoon: Wow really? That's cool! Did you know Sanchez? He was there too, but he was so sad. Miss Apple doesn't seem to like him though. I think she was upset when I told her about him.
Mathiu: Yes, I knew Sanchez, too.
Shoon: Do you know why he was so sad? Neither Apple or Morgan would say why, and I wanted to know so maybe I could cheer him up next time I go.
Mathiu: *matter of factly* He murdered my sister and killed me. I think that has something to do with it.
Shoon: *eyes go wide* Oh. I'm sorry
Mathiu: It's all right. I'm here now, I guess. *puts the salve on the horse's leg* This will speed the healing and also relieve the pain.
Shoon: So you're dead too, like Lady Sialeeds and his Majesty Ferid? Huh. *rolls with it* There's a lot of supposed to dead people here.
Mathiu: It is very strange. Sometimes I wonder if this isn't some sort of afterlife. Hand me the rest of the bandage, please.
Shoon: *hands him the bandage* I don't feel dead. *pokes himself in the stomach then pokes Mathiu in the shoulder* You don't feel dead. I think you would be all decaying and stuff.
Mathiu: *gives a small laugh* Yes, I suppose you're right. *continues wrapping the horse's leg* There.
Shoon: *smiles* All done?
Mathiu: *nods* I'll check him tomorrow and replace the bandage. If you want to learn more about first aid, you should come to the infirmary. I'll be happy to teach you.
Shoon: I'll think about. It might be helpful 'cause I rescue animals a lot as pet detective for Boss Kidd.
Mathiu: *nods* All right. Take care, Shoon.
