Wherein, Wakaba finally gives Cecile her birthday present.
Wakaba: *searching around for Cecile, carrying a little basket, which keeps making suspiscious little scratching noises in it, she peeks in, hissing* Shush, don't give it away! *before shutting the basket again*
Cecile: *sitting on the front steps looking out at the plains, her arms resting on her knees, and her chin in her hands, appearing thoughtful*
Wakaba: *finally spots her, runs up, careful not to jounce the basket too much, trying not startle Cecile as well* Hi Cecile! ^_^
Cecile: *looks backwards, her feather bobbing up and down comically* Lady Wakaba!!!!
Wakaba: *grins* What did I tell you about calling me Lady? *teasing as she sits down* It makes me feel old...*giggles again, setting the basket on the step in front of her, and sitting her foot on it so that whatever's in it cannot escape*
Cecile: *turns an embarrassed pink* I-I'm sorry; it's habit!!! *oblivious to the wriggling basket*
Wakaba: It's ok, really. *smiles* Soooooo, on the subject of birthday presents...*even though they hadn't been talking about birthday presents* Yours is ready! ^__^
Cecile: Oh!! *pink* But I told you not to worry about that!
Wakaba: Toooo bad. You gave me one, and I wanna give you one back! *picks up the basket and holds it in her lap* Ok, you know how you're always searching for bandits? *getting more excited as each moment goes by*
Cecile: *her expression stiffens into a determined look, so extreme it's almost silly* Yes!!!
Wakaba: I'm not making fun! *just wants to make sure that's known, 'cause of Cecile's expression* Well, this has something sort of to do with bandits... But you gotta close your eyes and hold out your hands.
Cecile: Okay. u__u *does as she's told, but is unable to suppress a sneaking grin around the corners of her mouth*
Wakaba: *checks to make sure her eyes are all the way closed before opening the basket and pulling the contents out, and putting it in Cecile's hands* I found you your own personal 'Bandit'! *in Cecile's hand is a little grey and white striped kitten, whose name just happens to be Bandit*
Cecile: *her initial thought is to flail at "bandit," but opens her eyes to see the fluffy little surprise* Oh--!!! *squeal*
Wakaba: His name is Bandit, and I thought that maybe when he gets bigger, he could help you hunt for the real bandits! ^__^
Cecile: *pets the kitten behind the ears, her entire countenance glowing* He's so precious and small!
Wakaba: *flushed happily, so glad Cecile likes him* I'm glad you like him!
Cecile: We can watch him grow up together!!!! It will be wonderful!!!!!!
Wakaba: Yeah! And I'm pretty sure the other kittens are gonna stay around here, so he'll still be around his brothers and sisters!
Cecile: *nods* Everyone needs family. XO And Bandit will be surrounded by family!
Wakaba: Yes! He will! We just have to make sure the puppies don't bother him, too. *nods*
Cecile: Oh, they're well behaved!! I wouldn't worry about them!
Wakaba: Ok. I've never had any of the kittens around the puppies, so he might be kind of scared at first, but I'm sure he'll be ok! He'll get used to them. *nods seriously*
Cecile: *returns the serious nod* I'll see to it that nothing bad happens!
Wakaba: I'm so glad you like him! I was kind of worried that you wouldn't...
Cecile: *pets the kitten, who curls up in her lap* I wouldn't? Why?
Wakaba: I don't know...You'd always expressed such a like for dogs, that I was sort of worried that you liked dogs more than cats... It's kind of silly, I guess.
Cecile: I love dogs!! But cats are lovely in their own way too!!!
Wakaba: *smiles* I like them both! I just don't like how some of the bigger dogs drool, 'cause that reminds me of raw eggs, and that's just gross. *wrinkles her nose*
Cecile: None of the dogs that work with me are much larger than Koroku! They're like me. ...They don't grow much. .///.
Wakaba: I don't grow much either...I don't think I've grown in a while, actually. I think I'm stuck at 5'5".
Cecile: That's taller than me!! I'm only five feet!!!!! *places Bandit carefully back in the basket and stands up* See???
Wakaba: *giggles, thinking for a moment* Ya know what? You're the same height that my mother was.
Cecile: *pauses* Really? *gives her a 'go on' look*
Wakaba: Yeah, everyone on her side of the family was so short. *grins slightly* They say that the only reason I'm taller is because my dad was sort of tall. He was only like 5'9", but that's still pretty tall.
Cecile: ONLY 5'9"?! That's ENORMOUS!!!!! *makes a waving gesture* Like Juan!!!!!!
Wakaba: *blinks slightly* Really? I always thought that was kind of short for a guy... But maybe it is tall. *tilts head to the side*
Cecile: Short? No, I think it is very tall. Although, with boys, I don't think it matters how tall they are at all, so long as they are nice.
Wakaba: That's very true. If they're tall, but not nice, then it's not very good, is it?
Cecile: *shakes head* Not at all. You know, I wonder what things would be like if I were taller....*skips off the steps, her back facing Wakaba as she looks out to the plains*
Wakaba: What do you mean? *checks to make sure Bandit can't run off, before getting up and joining Cecile, looking out at the plains as well*
Cecile: Well, I wonder if things would have been different. Then I would not have been teased when I was smaller.
Wakaba: *frowns, not really sure what to say, so just puts her hand on the other's shoulder* I'm sorry you were teased...
Cecile: *tilts her head so it rests against Wakaba's hand, feeling reassured* I'm not really bothered about it anymore. *straightens* And it taught me how to be strong!!!!!!!
Wakaba: *nods* You are very strong. You're stronger than me in a lot of ways. You're always so sure of yourself.
Cecile: ...Sure of myself? *looks down at her feet* ....Do I really look like that? *quiet*
Wakaba: *slightly taken aback* Yeah, you always seem so confident in yourself, and I admire that, 'cause I doubt myself way too much.
Cecile: There are many things I'm not confident about at all. ....*brightens* But don't worry about that!
Wakaba: I- I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, Cecile... *feels kind of bad now*
Cecile: No, it's okay!!! In fact, I think I'll try to do something about that in the future!!!
Wakaba: *smiles tentatively, then changes the subject, looking back at the basket, where Bandit is trying to climb out of the basket* Uh oh. Bandit's trying to escape. *giggles*
Cecile: What?! I can't let bandits run lose around Budeuc!!!!!! XO
Wakaba: *barely conceals her giggles* No, the kitten! He's escaping! *can't help but giggle now, runs to grab the kitten before he can run off somewhere*
Cecile: *knew that ////// * O-of course!!! We can't let him run loose too!
Wakaba: No, he can't run loose either. *giggles some more, putting him back in the basket, and then handing the basket to Cecile* I probably interrupted your patrolling, anyways, didn't I?
Cecile: *giggles along, then snaps back to attention* Patrolling? Oh, oh no...no, I was just thinking.
Wakaba: Oh, ok. Thinking is a good pasttime too. The best people do it. *winks with a grin*
Cecile: Come visit Bandit and I sometime!!! Because I can't be thinking while having to do my patrol!!!
Wakaba: I will! ^_^ And you should still think while patrolling! You've gotta think of where the real bandits could be hiding and stuff, ya know? *nods seriously*
Cecile: *fervent nod* You're right!~!!!!!
Wakaba: Ok, well, I'll let you think some more, or you can play with Bandit, or just do whatever! ^__^
