CHARACTERS: Wakaba, Cecile
LOCATION: Lake
TASK: Feed the ducks
Is ethnic food really fit for ducks?
Cecile: *dressed in her favorite hair ribbons, and a long-sleeved black sweater along with her trademark skirt and regular shoes, she makes her merry way to the lake with an orange gingham cloth bundle of food for the ducks*
Wakaba: *is just dressed the way she normally is, because...well, because it's comfortable, and she likes her outfit* Hmm... *is already at the lake, sitting and dangling her feet in the water, looking around curiously*
Cecile: *recognizes Wakaba from behind and begins to run, breaking into an excited smile* Lady Wakaba!!!!!!! Surprise!!!!!!
Wakaba: *jumps slightly, turning around and smiling brightly* Hi Cecile! *waves, then pauses for a moment* Ya know, you don't have to call me 'Lady'...I've been meaning to say that, and just kept forgetting. It's not like we're really far apart in age, ya know?
Cecile: Ah...I suppose so. I do not address Rody with formalities either, but it's just a habit. *bows....out of habit XD* I'm sorry, Wakaba!!!!
Wakaba: It's okay! *motions to the spot next to her* So, we have to feed the ducks, huh? That shouldn't be too hard, and it should be pretty fun, anyways, right? As long as the ducks don't bite me. *wrinkles nose*
Cecile: They won't bite you!!! I'm sure of it!! They'll be so busy eating the food I brought, they won't even think about it. *determined stance* And if they do bite you, they'll have to answer to me--!!!
Wakaba: Well, that's true. The food will keep them occupied. *giggles at the other's stance* And I'm sure they'd be very frightened to have to answer to you. I know I wouldn't want to make you mad or upset you.
Cecile: *sits next to Wakaba by the lake, placing the cloth bundle in her lap* I wouldn't worry about that!! You're not an upsetting person. *happy smile*
Wakaba: *smiles back, peeking at the bundle* What'd you bring for them?
Cecile: *in an announcer voice* I brought tacos and enchiladas and tostadas and burritos and quesadillas and huachinango and my absolute favorite: pollo pibil--!!!!!!!!!! *unwraps cloth bundle, revealing a plethora of spicy food omg D: *
Wakaba: *completely lost after enchiladas, as she doesn't eat spicy food all that much, so she doesn't know what it's all called, but doesn't care* Oooh, I bet they'll like all that! ^_^
Cecile: I hope so. I mean, it took a long time to make everything. ._.'
Wakaba: o.o; You made all this yourself? Wow. I should of brought something to feed them too... It probably would have only been bread... *feels kinda silly now, as she forgot to bring something to feed them*
Cecile: No, that's okay!! I made a lot because...because...well, I hoped the ducks weren't very hungry so I could share it with my partner!
Wakaba: Oh! I bet it'll be really good! I like tacos. *smiles brightly, scooting a bit back from the water as she notices the ducks starting to gather because of the food*
Cecile: I hope so!!! *takes a pinch of the huachinango dish and tosses it to the swarm of ducks* I'm so glad I signed up!!
Wakaba: Me too! *said in reply to both remarks, reaching over and taking a pinch of the tostadas, and tosses it to them as well* I'm glad I got you, and not someone creepy. ^_^
Cecile: I think that in truth I really wouldn't mind being with anyone who lives here, but I'm glad I got you! I want to be friends, so this makes things easier!! *watches a speckled duck try to eat some tomato from the tostadas*
Wakaba: I thought we were friends. *tilts her head, thinking to herself: 'At least Hervey wasn't completely cruel, and didn't put me with Humphrey.'* And I wouldn't really mind either, it's just some, I would have felt kind of awkward...
Cecile: *brightens* Really?! You mean it?! I really admire you, so I've been hoping we could be!!! *leans over excitedly with her hands pressed against the lakeshore grass*
Wakaba: Of course we're friends! *smiles brightly* But why do you admire me? I haven't really done anything all that remarkable. *tosses a bit more food to the ducks, not really paying attention to what she throws, because leaning back on her elbows, still dangling her feet in the water*
Cecile: You stood up for me when Juan teased me, and understand things unlike a lot of other people here. *relaxed look as she chucks an entire enchilada into the lake, only to watch it become devoured by a particularly fat duck*
Wakaba: Oh. That. *blushes slightly* I don't like it when anybody gets teased, especially the people I consider to be my friends. *giggles quietly at the fat duck* As for the understanding things... I don't know what to say to that, I guess. I just listen to people, I suppose. Though I guess a lot of people wouldn't think that, because I talk so much.
Cecile: But it is difficult, isn't it? I mean, having so much to talk about, but not knowing what you should say and what you should not say? I have trouble deciding sometimes because I want to say everything!!
Wakaba: Yeah. I'm always afraid I'm gonna offend someone, 'cause I don't always think before I say something, and I don't always think before I do something, like the thing with Mr. Humphrey...
Cecile: Sir Humphrey--*picks off a bit of burrito and passes it to two ducks who begin to fight over it*--is a little odd to understand. He seems like he's lonely, but at the same time he's not very willing to make friends. I think it's wonderful that you're trying though!
Wakaba: *picks off a bit of taco and gives it to a little duck who hadn't gotten anything so far, watching it eat it happily* Well...Since he made that announcement, I've just kinda left him alone...That kind of hurt, though I guess I shouldn't have been quite so clingy or crazy about it. *sighs* I think a lot of the things that happened to him in the past keeps him from making friends easily.
Cecile: *sits in thought without saying anything for a few moments* ...If there are things in his past which bother him, he'll come to terms with them eventually. I suppose that in the meantime we'll have to be as understanding as possible and not push him.
Wakaba: *smiles* Yeah. I just sort of wish he wouldn't use the ale to push the memories away. There are things we all don't want to remember, but it's not healthy to suppress them like that. We all have to come to terms that what happened has happened, and there's not much we can do about it, ya know?
Cecile: That's right!!! *dumps half the plate of quesadillas into the lake in her excitement* If only we could get him to do something more constructive, like cattle ranching!!!
Wakaba: Didn't he try that, and the cattle ran away or something? *giggles as several of the ducks dive under the water to catch the food that's falling*
Cecile: I...think so? Then he should try to find them, at least!! *shoos away a pesky duck from flapping onto the shore*
Wakaba: *tosses that particular duck some taco meat* Yeah, he should. They're probably lost and scared, and hungry. *feels bad for the poor cattle now, as she's rather fond of all animals*
Cecile: I'm sure they're safe~!!! Iksay isn't too far away, and there's plenty of farm animals there to keep them company!!!
Wakaba: That's true! And I bet the other farmers will take care of them. ^_^ *gives the little duck from earlier another piece of taco, she seems to favor the little ones*
Cecile: *content sigh* You must be right~ *notices the rest of the food is gone and flops onto her back, letting her arms fly out to the sides in a lazy fashion* This is nice; I don't get to sit outside like this often.
Wakaba: *lays back as well, resting her head on her hands*
Really? You should take more time off. You work so hard. I'm sure Master Thomas wouldn't mind you taking a little bit of time off for yourself every once in a while. We all need a little bit of alone time.
Cecile: *turns pink* Master Thomas already took his vacation. And I have to stay alert for bandits!! Budehuc can't guard itself, you know!
Wakaba: No, it can't, but I'm sure if everyone kept an eye out, we'd be safe from bandits while you were gone. *props herself up on one hand, looking at Cecile* I think you're the most hard-working person at Budehuc.
Cecile: *turns a brighter, flattered pink* I-I wouldn't say that! What about Sir Mathiu and Sir Hugo? And Sir Jess and Master Thomas, of course! I think they work much more than I do.
Wakaba: Yeah, but you keep us all safe! That's the most important thing of all! *gets an idea, grins* You know what? The next time Master Thomas goes on a vacation, you should go with him! I bet you two would have so much fun!
Cecile: *fwoosh! bright red* H-h-he doesn't...he doesn't take vacations often.
Wakaba: Well, you should try to convince him to take more. You both need to relax more. *nods seriously*
Cecile: B-but I'm relaxing right now!!! Here with the ducks and you!!!
Wakaba: Yeah, but this is just one time, though... You need to do it more often... *suddenly squeaks as one of the ducks nips at her toes, then giggles at she notices it was the little one she had been favoring, says to it* Sorry, I don't have any more food...
Cecile: *gives the ducks a scolding look, but her expression becomes flustered again* I can't just ask him to take a vacation again!! What would he think?!
Wakaba: Well, I didn't mean right away! Maybe in a couple months or something. Ya know?
Cecile: A couple of months...? You mean, during Christmas time?
Wakaba: ... *pauses and thinks about that* Ok, maybe that's not the best idea. That would be kind of cold, wouldn't it? Ok, then, maybe next summer! *rubs the back of her head*
Cecile: I don't want to wait that long!! *squeaks and covers her mouth, realizing how pushy that sounded*
Wakaba: Hmmm... Maybe early spring, then? Though, I guess a Christmas vacation would be kind of fun too. Just the two of you, and you could exchange gifts, and not have to worry about a bunch of people prying and stuff.
Cecile: *flushes* I...I don't know. I just feel as though I am never there for him when I ought to be. I rarely see him because he and I work so much. *turns over and looks to
Wakaba* Do you know what I mean?
Wakaba: Yeah, I know what ya mean. I think maybe that would make it even more special, since you don't get to spend too much time with him. And I'm sure you're there for him when it counts the most, and I bet he's really, really thankful to have someone that's so loyal and faithful. *smiles brightly, looking over at Cecile*
Cecile: *her expression relaxes* ....You are a wonderful friend, Wakaba. Thank you.
Wakaba: *blushes slightly* You're welcome. You're a great friend too, Cecile. It's been a long time since I've just been able to sit and talk with someone.
Cecile: *small nod* Me too. About things like this, I mean. Sir Stallion and Sir Lucas all mean well, but you're like me, so you understand differently.
Wakaba: *nods in understanding* Sometimes you just have to be able to talk to a girl about some things, huh? *giggles* 'Cause guys just don't understand the same.
Cecile: That's right!! *sits up as a duck starts to peck at her foot* Hey, stop that!! ><
Wakaba: *giggles at the duck, sitting up and shooing it off* I think they want more food, but there isn't any left... ._.
Cecile: They will have to learn to be patient then!!!!
Wakaba: Yes! Or go find some other food to eat, but maybe they like the spicy food better. *watches them with her head tilted to the side*
Cecile: Perhaps. *brushes her skirt off as she stands* It was my very best cooking to date!
Wakaba: *stands up too, checking to make sure there are no grass stains* I can't cook. I tried once, and nearly killed Master Long Chan Chan. He never let me cook after that. *giggles*
Cecile: I used to add too much spice!! *horrified look* But ever since Lady Taki came, I'm much better at cooking!!
Wakaba: After the fiasco the last time I cooked, I never
tried again, really. Partly because Master wouldn't let me, and partly because I didn't want to kill anyone else. o.o;
Cecile: *takes Wakaba's hands as a reassuring gesture* You have so many other things you're good at though!! So don't worry!!!!!
Wakaba: *almost jumps in surprise, but manages not to, flushing slightly, before smiling* Thanks Cecile. ^_^
Cecile: *frowns with overwhelming determination* I have faith in you!!!! So if you have faith in yourself....then....then....then TWO people will have faith in you!!!!
Wakaba: *giggles* That's true! And if someone else sees something to have faith in in me, then I guess I should too, huh?
Cecile: *nodnodnod* So don't ever give up on yourself!! Once you do that, then you won't ever be able to do anything!!!
Wakaba: *tilts her head to the side, thinking* Ya know, I never thought of it that way. So I guess you're right. I can't give up. Even if it is just a little thing like cooking! ^_^
Cecile: Exactly!!!!!!!! And you'll always have at least one person who believes in you!! *points at herself*
Wakaba: *flushes slightly, smiling* That means a lot, Cecile. Thanks.
Cecile: *gives Wakaba a big armorless hug* That is what friends are for!!
Wakaba: *hugs back with a bright smile* Yep, that's true.
Cecile: *breaks away and gathers up the cloth from the food* We should thank Sir Hervey for organizing these.
Wakaba: Yeah, we should, shouldn't we? Though, from what I've heard, not many of other people's went very well. That's kind of sad.
Cecile: Really? *tilts her head* I know Kidd's partner did not show up, but it sounded like Juan and Lady Queen had nice times.
Wakaba: Mitsuba's partner didn't show up either. *thinks about that one, coming up with one theory, but then discarding it* But I'm glad Juan and Lady Queen had a good time. ^_^
Cecile: Me too!!! I'm going to ask Juan for the details on his later, so I can give him the details from mine!!! *beam*
Wakaba: ^__^ I had a lot of fun, Cecile.
Cecile: Me too!!! Let's meet like this again another time, only not because of an assignment, okay??! We can try to help Sir Humphrey find his calling in life!!!
Wakaba: Yeah! And we can bring the ducks some more food, and maybe you can help me with my cooking! *hyper bounce on the balls of her feet*
Cecile: *happy flail* Okay!!!!!!
Wakaba: *giggles, randomly launching into a hug*
Cecile: *squishyhug, being a silly little girl for once~*
Wakaba: *giggles more* You're so much fun to be with, Cecile!
Cecile: You too!!! I haven't had this much fun since....*pauses* I went shopping for clothes with Lord Reinbach!
Wakaba: I bet that was fun! I don't think I've ever really gone clothes shopping. Never really had a need. *giggles, gesturing at her own outfit*
Cecile: I wear many of the same things too, but maybe next time we can go together!! *folds up the cloth*
Wakaba: I'd like that. ^_^ *so doesn't want it to end, she's been having so much fun, but knows it has to eventually*
Cecile: *feels the same way, so she lingers for a moment, then makes a squiggly frown* But I really should get back to my post...
Wakaba: Yeah... *scuffs at the ground with her toe* And I should go check on the kittens... *looks up, excited again* You know, they've started to eat real food! Well, kitty food. And I have to put water in it to soften it, but they've started to eat it!
Cecile: I'll come visit them sometime!!! I don't think kittens like spicy food, but still!!
Wakaba: Ok! *scuffs at the ground again* But yeah, we should probably get then... *another hug!*
Cecile: *squishes* Okay!!! I'll talk to you later then, Wakaba!! *parts and hurries away, looking over her shoulder and waving as she leaves*
Wakaba: *waves back with a bright smile* Talk to you later, Cecile! *runs off to check on the kittens*
DUCKS: Are fed. :D
