yes, i've been a facebook snob and forgotten my roots. its a nice community to keep up with my friend's likes and dislikes and to reconnect with friends long since forgotten....but it isn't a journal and sometimes you just need to write things down.
my week long trip to california has been great. right now i'm sitting here with a Balvenie 12 year Doublewood single malt...and its good. (its also good to type three periods in a row as has always been my want).
started out in LA with my buddy from MBA school. i can truly say that none of you would like him and you would want to punch me if i ever brought him around. but he's my friend dammit and even after spending two days in what seemed like a low budget reality show entitled "What if you and you ex decided to move together to LA after you broke up", i have no problem saying i'm glad i visited and nurtured my only genuine UGA ticket broker.
eschewed the convertible for the trip up the coast and rented the Jeep Patriot. i've had my eye on it and i wanted to give it the ultimate test drive. she performed well. great gas mileage for an mid-sized SUV. no major complaints, but oddly enough, it was a bit too plastic in the interior. i'm not sure what that means other than i'm going to reopen bids from some of the more 'sophisticated' models.
PCH 1 is a drive that you just can't make up, or try to describe in a forum like this...though pictures are posted on my facebook account. it is certainly worthy of being in the Top 30 of checkboxes though. it took me six hours to drive 120 miles on day 3 (not because of the speed limit but because of the number of times i parked the car on the side of the road and the exquisite lunch at Nepenthe in Big Sur).
what can i say about hanging with my roommate and fraternity brother in san fran. yeah, the views from the top of his house in the marina district were amazing. the drive under clear blue skies across the golden gate in his convertible porsche were fun. but i hadn't seen him in eight years and having korean pork over lunch, sushi at dinner, jagers at the local bar, getting hit on by some drunk chicks (which we both agreed we were never able to pull off in tandem in chapel hill), chilling over episodes of the office was fucking perfect. man i didn't realize how much i missed that motherfucker.
so its back home tomorrow (ross if its still playing at the IMAX i owe you one). sigh.
oh and i can't forget to mention the dinner i had with the one and only owner of the world's best fuzzy blue jacket...Desi. like the PCH 1, some friends you just can't make up.
