I responded yes, but need to qualify...not always before the first date, but definitely before the third, or whatever seems like it's going to be the "have sex" date. Not like I've never put out on the first date, but I'm older now :).

Ditto, I don't don new (and usually matching) undies unless and until sex is a possibility.

I don't buy new underwear, but I wear a nice pair anyway: it's not likely that anyone will see them, but it's a nice little confidence boost to think "I look good" every time I go to the bathroom all day long.

My inculcatating (brainwashing) was to ALWAYS wear your best undies when going out at ALL.... let alone on a first date. In case you got knocked down. NOW I giggle and don't wear undies... simply to be a very wicked very old lady! teehee (And nowadays I can't do the high-kick in the Can Can!)

It's definitely a confidence boost. I don't buy new before a first date, but I wear nice, just for that reason. And I'll do the same before any "sex date". Once I get to know a new guy, I'll buy new, based on what I think/have learned he likes.

I wouldn't buy new underwear for a date, but i'd wear nice underwear. For a first date I'd wear comfy nice looking ones. For a date where I was planning to undress, I have a collection of "scanties", lacy ones that are mostly too uncomfortable for daily wear. So I guess I'm saying there would not be underwear revealed on a first date ever, but I'd wear nice ones..... just in case. But not my scanties. I wanna be super comfy on a first date, I'm likely to already be anxious (anxiety disorder and social phobia which can't be soothed by a wine or two because I'm in recovery).

I used to have a lucky pair of knickers, not sure why they were lucky except they were really beautiful AND comfortable, and I wore them to every special event. I always used to wear them on a first date, but they wore out and I .. probably got too old for the concept of lucky undies.
